About this manual
Purpose and target audience
This manual describes service works on Generation 2012 MEMMERT appliances (as of October
2012). It is intended for use by trained personnel of the owner, who have the task of maintai-
ning the respective appliance.
If you are asked to work on the appliance, read this manual carefully before starting. Familiarise
yourself with the safety regulations. Only perform work that is described in this manual. If there
is something you do not understand, or certain information is missing, ask your manager or
contact the manufacturer. Do not do anything without authorisation.
Due to individual configurations and sizes, illustrations in this manual may be slightly different
from the actual appearance. However, the procedure is always the same.
Other documents that have to be observed:
► the separately provided wiring diagram
► for the functional test after service, the operating manual of the respective appliance
► for additional work on the appliance, the respective service manual

Safety regulations
Installation, repair and maintenance of Memmert appliances that require opening the appliance
is only to be carried out by experienced technicians who have undergone electro technical trai-
ning, are familiar with the applicable standards and regulations and thus are able to judge the
work assigned to them and recognise possible dangers.

WARNING
After removing covers, live parts may be exposed. Before working with the
appliance, disconnect it from the power supply (by removing the power
cable from the power supply as well as from the appliance).

CAUTION
The appliance may still be hot. Touching these surfaces can cause
burns. Before starting work, allow the appliance to adjust to room
temperature if it has just been in use before.

CAUTION
When dismantling the appliance and for work on the interior, you could be
injured on unprocessed metal edges. You should wear gloves.

Do not leave the appliance switched on after service or repair works and, every time service and
repair works have been done, perform a safety check in accordance with EN 62638 as well as a
functional test.

1. Remove the clip-on cover
from the top of the Control-
COCKPIT. To do so, slightly lift
the clip-on cover and push it
off to the back.

2. With a screwdriver, remove

the screws from the top of the
ControlCOCKPIT.

3. Make sure that the on/off

switch is set to Off.
4. Carefully pull the Control-
COCKPIT upwards and out.
When doing so, take care not
to pull the on/off switch out
as well and make sure that
none of the leads rub against
metal. A

5. Slightly push the SD card in.
The card is unlocked and can be
taken out.

6. Insert the SD card into the

card reader of your computer /
laptop
► If the existing data is still requi-
red, save this data.

NOTICE
► Calibration values that have
been individually calibrated by
the user are lost during a confi-
guration update.
7. Backup this data before you
perform the update.
► [SD-card drive]:\Controller\Con-
fig\CalibUser.xml
8. Save the file „CalibUser.xml“ se-
perate and insert it at the same
place after the update process is
finished.

9. You can delete all data from the

SD card.

10. Unpack the new device configu-
ration data.
11. Store device configuration data
on the SD card.

12. Reinsert the SD card.

8. Carefully insert the Control-
COCKPIT. While doing so,
make sure that none of the
leads rub against metal on the
appliance rear side.

9. Fasten the ControlCOCKPIT

with five or seven screws (de-
pending on appliance size).

10. Slide the clip-on cover onto

the ControlCOCKPIT and press
it into place.

Concluding tasks
WARNING
After service, the
electrical safety of
the appliance could
be compromised.
Carry out a safety
test according to
DIN VDE 0701-
0702/VDE 0701-
0702:2008-06 on
the device.

Subject the appliance to a functio-

nal test. During the test time, do
not leave the appliance unatten-
