Cloud file storage services

The purpose of the laboratory work is to learn how to

use cloud file storage services to organize collaboration
with data and ensure access to relevant information on
any device.
The task is to analyze cloud file storage services and
explore the features of each service.
We use as development tools: Yandex, mail, mail.ru
and others.

General purpose:

1. Find out which of the e-mail services (yandex;

gmail; .mail.ru file storage services used in laboratory
work, their features.

2. Create a folder "ITO_lab" in the cloud, upload the

files created during the laboratory work on this subject.
3. Open access to the file (folder) for mailboxes in
other mail services. Check if the files exist. Take
screenshots, place the screenshots in the report, give
them appropriate names.

5. Investigate other features offered by file storage
services, make a comparative analysis, fill in Table 1
(report) based on the results.
6. Preparation of recommendations on the evaluation
criteria of the file storage service not included in the
table. Add to account.
7. Prepare a detailed answer about the advantages and
disadvantages of each service. Add a report.

Follow-up questions
1. What influenced the emergence of cloud computing
concepts?
In history, I can believe that the basis for the creation
and rapid development of cloud technologies was the
large Internet services such as Google, Amazon, as
well as technological progress.
2. What are the main characteristics of cloud
computing?

The main characteristics of cloud computing are

scalability and virtualization.
Scaling is the ability to dynamically configure
information resources to a changing load, for example,
increasing or decreasing the number of users, changing
the required capacity of data stores or processing
power.
3. What trends in the development of infrastructure
solutions led to the concept of cloud computing?

The main trends in the development of infrastructure

solutions that contributed to the emergence of the
concept of cloud computing. Increasing the
productivity of computers. Emergence of multi-
processor and multi-core computing systems,
development of blade systems. Emergence of data
storage systems and networks.
4. What are the stages of development of cloud
computing?

The evolution of cloud computing can be divided into

several stages, which include the development of grid
and utility computing ideas, offering software as a
service (SaaS). However, the comprehensive concept
of delivering computing resources over the Internet
appeared in the 60s. The idea of an "intergalactic
computer network" was proposed by Joseph Licklider
(J. C. R. Licklider), responsible for the creation of
ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency
Network). His vision was that all people around the
world would be connected and have access to programs
and information from anywhere in the world. He
founded grid computing, an early precursor to the
cloud, in which geographically distributed computers
were linked together to form a loosely coupled
network. In turn, this led to the development of
computing resources that approached what Licklider
had originally envisioned. By definition, it is close to
what we think of today as a cloud that manages
computing infrastructure and resources, owned by a
specialized provider that supports the operation of the
platform and provided to users on a pay-as-you-go
basis.
5. What is virtualization?

Virtualization is when a simulated or virtual computing

environment is created instead of a physical version.
Virtualization often involves computerized versions of
hardware, operating systems, storage devices, and
more.

6. Name the main types of virtualization.

There are three types of virtualization—hardware,

software, and containers. Hardware virtualization has
many advantages over software and is supported by all
modern processors.

7. What are the ways to provide services?

For example, cloud services:
• mail: gmail, hotmail
• remote work with documents: Google documents,
Office Web Apps
• data storage: Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox
• real-time image processing: Image
• services for creating notes, collaborating on tasks:
Trello, Jira, Evernote
• online application stores: Google Play, App Store
and Microsoft Store
• cloud hosting - placing your site in the "cloud".
8. Name the advantages of cloud computing.
There are several advantages of using cloud
technologies. Accessibility. Access to information
stored in the cloud can be obtained by anyone with a
computer, tablet, any mobile device connected to the
Internet. This has the following advantage. Mobility.
The user is not permanently attached to one workplace.
9. What web services does cloud computing offer?
An example of cloud computing is e-mail, for example
Gmail, Yahoo, Yandex.Mail; social networks such as
Facebook, VKontakte; Various data storage services
such as Dropbox, Yandex.Disk.
A cloud service is an IT service provided by a cloud
provider. A cloud provider is a company that provides
cloud services to organizations and individuals.
10. What are the components of layers provided by
IaaS providers?
The components that IaaS provides to the customer
include data centers, servers, storage, networks and, if
necessary, a virtualization or hypervisor layer.
Infrastructure as a Service — The instant IT
infrastructure that serves, manages, and manages the
Internet.
11. How many cloud deployment models do you
know? List them.
Experts distinguish between four deployment models
called "clouds". Let's list them all: public cloud, private
cloud, public cloud and hybrid cloud. 1. Private cloud
(from the English private cloud) is an infrastructure
located within one organization.
12. What is a private cloud used for?
A private cloud is an infrastructure for the use of a
single organization that includes multiple customers
(for example, divisions of the same organization),
possibly also clients and contractors of this
organization. A private cloud may be owned, operated,
and managed by the organization itself or by a third
party (or some combination of the two), and may be
physically located either inside or outside the owner's
jurisdiction.
13. What are the four main types of cloud services
offered by Windows Azure?
IaaS, PaaS, SaaS over 500 services. Microsoft Azure
is a giant platform that runs more than 160 data centers
and is growing every year. The platform offers various
types of cloud services: IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, among
which there are more than 500 positions with the
ability to implement any tasks and projects. Azure is
used by different companies for completely different
tasks.
14. Which document clearly describes the procedure
and period of transferring the system to the cloud?
Migrating infrastructure to the cloud is a step-by-step
process that the customer company and the cloud
provider jointly implement. In most cases, the
movement is carried out not from hardware, but from a
working virtualization system, but nevertheless, the
process requires special preparation. Let's analyze the
main stages of moving infrastructure to the cloud. Each
of them has its own nuances, knowledge of which will
allow you to avoid mistakes. Preparation period. Power
rating. Preparation begins with an assessment of
existing infrastructure and preparation of a migration
plan
15. What is the purpose of data processing centers?
Data Processing Center (DPC) is a unified multi-
component system designed to ensure continuous
automated operation of business processes. Data
processing centers are created primarily to increase the
productivity of companies that actively use information
technologies in their activities, as well as to improve
the quality of services.
