Networking Academy Maintenance - IOS Image Download Guide

Scope
Participation in the Cisco Networking Academy® Maintenance Service provides access to the software
download area of Cisco.com. This document explains how to select and download IOS images under this
maintenance service.

IOS Image Download Policy


The Networking Academy Maintenance Agreement entitles participants to download IOS images for the
hardware identified in the Networking Academy Maintenance Image & Hardware Support document, which is
available at NetAcad.com (Resources > Marketing and Programming Resources > Equipment
Information). For the best lab results, we recommend that you install the IOS image listed for your device.

Download the Correct IOS Image


A quick and easy way to download IOS images from Cisco.com is to use the hyperlinks provided in the
Networking Academy Maintenance Image & Hardware Support document. After selecting the appropriate
curriculum from the menu, you will see a list of approved hardware to use for the curriculum labs.
You will also find the IOS image name for each device. These IOS images have been tested against the
curriculum and any caveats are footnoted. Each image name has been hyperlinked to the Cisco® software
download area for that device’s IOS images. These hyperlinks bypass many of the selection screens at
Cisco.com that would normally be presented to reach the same area manually.
Note: Prior to downloading IOS images, Cisco will require you to log in. Use your Cisco.com account, not
your Cisco NetAcad account. Please refer to the Troubleshooting Problems section of this document for more
information about Cisco.com accounts.
From here, you can select the recommended image from the list of available feature sets. Be sure to compare
the image name to the ones listed in the NetAcad Maintenance Image & Hardware Support document before
selecting an image for download. You can choose to download the image or add it to the cart for download at
a later time. The items will remain in your cart until you either download or remove them. You can view what
is in you cart at any time by clicking the Download Cart link at the top of the screen.

Troubleshooting Problems
a. If you would like to sign up for the Networking Academy Maintenance Service, please see the Networking
Academy Maintenance Service Datasheet for the signup process (Resources > Marketing and Program
Resources > Equipment Information > Networking Academy Maintenance).
b. If you have signed up for the service, but you cannot download the IOS image, then it is possible that the
Networking Academy Maintenance contract numbers have not been attached to your Cisco.com account.
Contact the Networking Academy Support Desk to add the maintenance contract number to your
Cisco.com account. To contact the Support Desk, click NetAcad Support.
c. If you are not able to log in to Cisco.com, verify that you are using your Cisco.com user ID and not your
NetSpace user ID. This is a common mistake.
d. If you have forgotten your Cisco.com user ID or password, use the link provided by Cisco to retrieve this
information. All you need is the email address that you provided when you set up your Cisco.com
account.
e. If you experience any other problems, please contact your Academy Support Center or the NetAcad
Support Desk.
