No.592/2022/ME%-2, dated 28.01.2022. ‘ORDER: ‘The Tamil Nadu State Election Commission has published the Programme of Election for the Ordinary Elections to the Urban Local Bodies in the State, vide reference first read above. As per the Programme of Election, the Poll Is scheduled to take place on Saturday, the 19 February, 2022, 2. The Secretary, Tamil Nadu State Election Commission, in the letter second read above, has requested the Government to deciare the sald day of Poll as a Public Holiday under section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (Central Act XVI of 1881). 3. The Government, after careful examination of the above proposal of the Secretary, Tamil Nadu State Election Commission, have decided to accept the same and accordingly, under section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (Central Act XXVI of 1881) declares Saturday, the 19 February, 2022, the date on which the poll for the Ordinary Elections to the Urban Local Bodies, 2022 will take place, to be a public Holiday, In those aréas wherever such poll takes place. All Government Offices, including industrial establishments of the Government and Government controlled bodies and all Educational institutions will remain closed on 19.02.2022 In the areas where polling takes place for the said Ordinary Elections to the Urban Local Bodies. 4.
