Story about Patron
During any war, each side has its own heroes - those who are admired, who are set as an example, who help to survive the harsh everyday life. And it's not always people. One of these heroes of Ukraine was a dog named Patron - Jack Russell, who turned from a simple dog into a sapper, became a real star not only in his native country, but also far beyond its borders. TJ talks about the rapid career growth of Patron and his worldwide fame.
Jack Russell appeared in the family of Mikhail Ilya,
head of the pyrotechnic group in the Chernihiv region, in 2020. The dog was bought as a gift for his son, at first he was called Bullet, but then renamed Patron. At first he was a purely show dog, he was trained like an ordinary dog, but then Ilya took him to work, where it suddenly turned out that Patron was a very good sapper. The cartridge was trained to recognize explosives and devices by smell, but they did not plan to make a full- fledged service dog out of him and take him into service.
