Effects of Ghosting on Relationships

This research review summarizes a study on the effects of ghosting on romantic relationships. It describes the methodology, which used purposive sampling and phenomenological research design to gather narratives from 17 high school students (7 males and 10 females) on their experiences with being ghosted. The results showed that ghosting impacted respondents' views on relationships, with some valuing or not valuing labels and friendships after being ghosted. Respondents also felt more guarded about future relationships or particular about future partners. The study found significant differences between male and female experiences of being ghosted and that respondents generally felt self-deprecating thoughts and anxiety as a result.
