    1. Wh- questions / questions with question words

    a) What time does the meeting start? – direct

    Could you tell me what time the meeting starts? – indirect

    2. Yes/no questions  
      
    b. Did the meeting start at 10?  

     
    I’d like to know if the meeting started at 10. 

    Possible beginnings:

    - Do you know… ? - Can/Could you tell me… ?


    - Do you have any idea…? - Would you mind telling me…?
    - I was wondering… - I’d like to know …

    b) What time did the meeting start?

    Could you tell me … ?

    c) Why are you learning English?

    d) How much does an adult ticket cost?

    e) Will Tony give a speech today?
