Eastman Kodak Company has been a pioneer in film
and radiography technology since its invention in 1895.

Kodak introduced the first medium for X-ray purposes

in 1896. We introduced X-ray film in 1914. And we’ve been
pioneering technological advances and breakthroughs in
X-ray film ever since.

The Importance of Having the Right
Packaging for your NDT X-Ray Film
Having the right packaging is critical to maintaining the
quality of the film. KODAK NDT films are available in a number
of packaging formats to suit a wide range of applications.

Non-Interleaved Film (NIF)

By far the most popular film format, NIF is both
economical and versatile.

Available in 100-sheet packs, NIF is supplied in a sealed

lightproof and moisture-proof bag with an easy tear strip,
housed in a sturdy recyclable cardboard “shoulder” box
with a special seal label. Each box carries an individually
printed label showing the film speed, size and catalogue
number, together with essential quality data such as
emulsion batch number and expiry date. The film is edge-
marked with an indexing sequence number every 7.6cm.

Our multi-orientational label can be read easily when the

box is standing upright, or when laid on its side.
Non-interleaved films are generally loaded into reusable
flexible or rigid cassettes, and Pb screens where applicable.

Leadpack (Pb)
Prepacked Pb films offer the ultimate in
convenience and repeatability.
Pb films are available in boxes of 50 sheets. Each film is
prepacked with 0.027mm lead screens in a lightproof and
moisture resistant envelope. Vacuum packing ensures
perfect screen contact, and eliminates dust and debris,
making Leadpack films ideal for applications in wet and
dirty conditions.

Pb films are packaged in the same recyclable boxes as our

NIF format, and each box is clearly identified with our multi-
orientational label.

wrapped in a lightproof and moisture resistant
outer packaging material, which allows the user
to cut the roll to any length that is required.

The ability to cut to length makes our Leadpack

roll film a very convenient and economical choice
and is particularly suitable for larger diameter
pipe and vessel weld radiography.

How to store your
KODAK NDT Film
STORAGE AND HANDLING
Handle film carefully to avoid physical strains such as pressure, creasing, or buckling.
It is important to realize that meeting the chemical and physical requirements does
not by itself ensure that records will not deteriorate. It is essential to provide proper
storage conditions. ASTM E 1254 gives details of storage conditions. ISO 18911
and ISO 18902 give, for processed films, recommended storage conditions and
specifications for the respective enclosure materials.

Unexposed
50 to 70°F (10 to 21°C), 30 to 50% RH. Properly shield from x-rays, gamma rays, or
other penetrating radiation.

Exposed
Keep cool, dry, and properly shielded from penetrating radiation. Process as soon as
possible after exposure.

Processed
60 to 80°F (15 to 27°C), 30 to 50% RH.
KODAK Industrial X-Ray
Developer and Single-Part
Fixer Solution Chemicals
Our developer is low-odor and is designed and manufactured with the environment in mind. We use
recyclable packaging.
Our photo-chemicals are designed to work with all development processes, manual
or automatic.
Please reference our Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for safety, health, and environmental details on these
chemicals. You can find them at www.kodak.com/go/sds.
KODAK Developer is glutaraldehyde-free and boron-free, ensuring its impact on the environment and
operator health is minimized. And with lower developing temperatures for your films, you have a reduced
evaporation rate using KODAK Chemicals.
Kodak’s single-part fixer is boron-free. And by using lower levels of aluminum sulfate, the risk of
precipitation is drastically reduced. Your film quality and consistency is ensured.

Each container is printed with an expiration date

indicating shelf life, so you have peace of mind that your
chemicals will perform as expected.
Packaging is easy-pour, minimizing risk of splashing.
Suitable for use with most brands of auto-mixer.
