Which of the of the three important writings of St. Augustine relevant to our situation today?

and Why?
One of the three important writings of St. Augustine that is relevant to our situation
today is the “City of God”. As I have read its summary, there was a king named Alaric who
captured the City of Rome which I think collaborates to the representation of Covid-19 when it
entered our world. Considering that we are still on pandemic, this book relates to the
happenings where we can see that our system in interaction is falling apart. We can’t do what
our usual routine is, like travelling to go to school, going to malls, going to church, and other
outdoor activities. I myself can see that people are not cooperating well with the curfews, rules
and regulations that has been announced.

In the analysis of the City of God it says that: “Augustine presents the four essential
elements of his philosophy in The City of God: the church, the state, the City of Heaven, and the
City of the World. The state adheres to the virtues of politics and of the mind, formulating a
political community. This grand design allows Augustine to elaborate his theory of justice,
which he says issues from the proper and just sharing of those things necessary for life, just as
God freely distributes air, water, and light. Humankind must therefore pursue the City of
Heaven to maintain a proper sense of order, which in turn leads to true peace.”
Like what was said on that analysis “sharing the necessities for life just as how God
freely distributes air, water, and light” we should cooperate with what has to be followed. Since
the government tries to lead us to our safety but the people just ignores them, there is no
balance at all. No change will be made nor peace will come like what was said on the analysis if
human kind won’t pursue the City of Heaven.
