the fact or process of removing any information that shows which particular
person something, particularly something such as a record on or message
from a computer, relates to:

• These protections would require the destruction or anonymization of all


communications data.

• If making data public, use an anonymization process for privacy protection.

 More examples

• Anonymization of a single database may be pointless as someone could


conceivably reconstruct personally identifiable data by linking records from
multiple databases.
• All major search engines need to adopt a high standard when it comes to
anonymization.
• Their anonymization method, removing the last set of numbers in an IP address,
has been criticized as insufficient.
