Thales

Thales has been referred to as “The First Philosopher” due to the fact that he started a

new area of thought, from what is religious and to thinking based on observation. As of these, he

was able to measure the height of a pyramid through its shadow. This is because from what he

has observed that on a particular time of the day, there comes that the height of a show will be

equal to the height of the actual object. According to the book Simplicus, commentary on the

physics, as quoted in Early Greek Philosophers, Thales is said to have been the first to introduce

the study of nature to the Greeks.

Thales has said to have predicted the eclipsed of the sun based on his own
