The Invention of the Compass

The compass was invented in the early 13th century

and revolutionized navigation. Before the compass,
sailors had to rely on the stars and other visual cues to
determine their direction. The compass allowed them
to navigate more accurately and safely.
The invention of the compass allowed for longer
voyages of exploration and discovery. It allowed for
the spread of knowledge and goods to new lands, and
opened up new trade routes between distant lands.
