The Rules 155(iv) of the Petroleum Rules, 1976 states that the appeal on
order passed by the District Authority shall be the immediate official superior to that
authority. It is enrolment and no authority has been referred to as and the name of
Board of Revenue who was hearing the appeals to the orders passed by the District
Authority in the State as also not mentioned as such in the rule. The Revenue to the
Board of Transport Commissioner, Madras Authority appeals under the under the
Petroleum Rules, 1976, can, therefore be heard and disposed of by the Transport
2. In supersession of the instruction in Government in
Lr.No.32927/Tr.1V/81-21, Home, dated 27.5.82, the Government order that the
Transport Commissioner, Madras be the “Immediate Superior to the District Authority”
referred to in Rule 155 of the Petroleum Rules, 1976.
