Learning Task #3: A Reaction Paper on the "The Howl and The Fusseyket" Reaction
Paper

1. Based on what you have seen in the short film, what type of family is the Lumibao
family? Give a brief description of this type of family.

The family type of Lumibao family is a perfect example of a traditional nuclear family. The
family lives under one roof with their biological mother, father, and sister. They have a
conservative yet supportive family.

2. Identify the following roles of a family depicted by the characters in the film and the
current developmental stage and tasks expected of this family.

The Lumibao family is at the second stage of development, which means that the
parents prepare their children for school. The parents are responsible for providing their children
with primary needs and fortitude for their children to survive under circumstances. This was
evident when the youngest child wanted to join a compete in declamation contest at their
school.
3. What values were exhibited by the family as they interact with each other and other
members of the community? (Give at least 2) and provided a brief explanation on how
these values were portrayed.

The children are the evidence as to what and /or how the parents taught them. The first
value exhibited by the family was giving both children the right to education which the parents
should provide for them which was present in the movie. And another value exhibited by the
parents was giving undying support to the child for his declamation competition. This value is
evident in the duration of the child’s practices and the way that they took the opportunity to hire
professionals to train him. During those practices, it portrayed that the family had a quality with
one another despite the that the father works abroad and the timezone was quite different. This
really showed the importance of showing your love and support to your children.

4. Recall 1 event or scene in the film that you liked most and explain why this scene has
caught your attention or has a special effect on you.

One scene from the movie that I appreciated the most was the scene when the child was
practicing his declamation piece. I could see how they really want him to improve his
pronunciation and speech to win the competition. And on how supportive his family was of his
grabbed opportunity. This gave me a little reminder that in life there are competitions or
challenges that may require us to ask for help and that we should not be ashamed to ask for it
since we want to give a quality output. And sometimes the help that we need doesn’t come from
other people rather it is from our family.
