Sample Material
For analysis the following sample material was in hand:
Sample 1 ‘TDW 108 Resin Enhanced Wax
Sample 2: ‘TDM200 RED Wax Resin
Sample 3: ‘TDM200 BLUE Wax Resin
Sample 4: ‘TDM200 GREEN Wax Resin
Comment: Unless stated differently, the analyses were carried out on a mixed sample consisting
of sample 2, 3 and 4 (= MP2),
Carrying out of the Tests
Examination period: 11 July 2019 to 19 August 2019
1, Determination of the Specific Migration into Tenax® (Modified Polyphenylene Ox-
The migration was performed according to DIN EN 14338:2004-03.
Conditions: 10 days at 40°C
Testing procedure: Between thermal layer and Tenax, a wrapping paper of approx. 20 g/m?
was used.
Subsequently, the volatile components adsorbed onto Tenax were extracted.
Gas chromatographic Analysis
The determination was performed according to SOP 160.200 by means of GCMS after extraction
with methyl tert-butylether.
a) Sum of the volatile components
The volatile components were summarized semi-quantitatively using deuterated nonadecane as
internal standard.
Result:
Sample 1 0.11 mg/dm?
Sample MP2: 0.14 mgfdm?Page 3 of 4 pages ISEGA - Forschungs- und Untersuchungsgeselischaft mbH Aschaffenburg

b) Screening
Further signals in the chromatogram were evaluated semi-quantitatively using deuterated non-
adecane as internal standard; for their identification a commercially available mass spectra library
was used.
Result
Sample 1
‘Sum of alkanes 0.011 mg/m?
Sample 2:
‘Sum of alkanes 0.014 mg/dm?
2. Determination of Volatile Organic Compounds (Headspace-GC/MS-Screening) *
The determination was performed according to SOP 160.200 by means of head space
chromatography and mass spectrometric detection after a storage of 60 minutes at 80 °C. The
air space above the sample material was examined for volatile components and was identified
against a spectrum library and additionally according to the retention times.
Besides, it was tested for the listed solvents on the basis of the standard EN 13628-1 for the
examination of flexible packaging materials as well as for volatile monomers. If not stated
differently, a semiquantitative estimation of the signals was performed against the internal
standard trichlorotrifluoroethane.
