a. Shaggy Dog Story

OUCH!

Since the first day of class, he has fallen in love. The beauty, the charisma, the witty
attitude, and that charming symmetrical facial feature led him to dwell closer to the fate of
falling in love. Anthony never expected that day to come through but has come to accept what
destiny is molding them to be.

Oh, how time flies! three months since the beginning of class, the calendar flips to the 7th
of November. As the sky brightens and the sun thickens in the vast landscape, a loud noise
threatens every peacefully slept individual in the household. Miraculously, even with those
hurtful looping sounds, only Anthony woke up from that ear rape and decides to shut it off with
rage.

“Another day, another slay, I guess?” He said with a weak voice, encouraging that the day
would be great. As he then proceeded to take a bath, wear his wardrobe and eat breakfast, the
scenery of this cozy morning is uncanny to him, it scares him.

“What is happening today? The vibe feels weird but is also very happy.” He said while
having confusion painted on his face. He didn’t mind it but continued to consider it as any other
normal day. After spending 20 minutes traveling, he arrived at school. Still, all was feeling so
bright for him with the sun hitting his brownish skin and silky black hair, of course, he was still
questioning the day…Then comes his crush, as he runs nearer to him, Anthony’s pupils widen,
his heart beating faster and small sweat starts to run down his head. Without hesitation, when
Anthony’s shadow loomed over him, he bravely asked, “You have a crush on me?” in a
respectful tone. Suddenly, just like in rom-com movies, butterflies bursted out of nowhere, the
chest started to glow red and a romantic song was playing in the background–all of these were
happening all at once inside Anthony’s mind. Flabbergasted and with a mouth wide open,
Anthony responded abruptly with a “Yes!” Unexpectedly, his crush extended his arms so wide
and wrapped them towards Anthony’s warm body generating the most stunning feeling,
everyone could ever bear. A moment after that hug, his crush expressed the feeling of
gratefulness, in exchange, he told Anthony how he also feels and lives the best feeling the day
could ever give to the both of them, “MUTUAL LOVE.”

So short, right? Well….skipping a few chapters, they held each other's hearts until the
end of times. Anthony and his crush live happily ever after in a world of friendship,
understanding, love, and happy endings…? But just as if they are concerned about the reader,
Anthony left a note for all of us, including me, the author…

Dear you,
How does it feel to be loved? Fun? Great? Amazing? Surprising? As love is explained
and explored in different situations and factors, how does it really feel? Well, in the concept of
relationships etc., would love mean more? Oh really?! It's up to you people! All I can say is that
“BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME! In your reality, hindi ka niya pinili!, hindi ka niya type! At lalo
na sa lahat, hindi mo ma-experience yung na experience ko dito sa story na ito, yung, tipong
maging kayo! Hehehehe…Sorry ha, sa truth lang! Eme……..

Sincerely,
Anthony
and His crushiecakes, sugarpie, honeybunch, goldensun, sun&moon, loverboy…

Merry Maroon Christmas
8 pm. The school hallways are all clear. It’s just me, my phone, my abnormal heart
pulses, and a dark mirage that’s telling me to come. A sudden thought popped into my head,
“everyone has suspiciously vanished, singly.” I reminded myself. Once a dark maroon light
dashes across the hallway, I can’t help but follow it as I feel time moving slowly.
A bedside desk greets me at the doorway with a bloody locket of our president, lazily
displayed.
I turned around once a scraping knife on the wall threatened the peace of my mind.
“Merry Christmas, Partner.” I smiled.

d. Sudden Fiction
Rainbow Rope

As I come out from the restaurant bathroom, raggedy and with shortened breathing, I hear
the voice of my pristine suave bi-curious friend, Ajax, and his delicate and fairy-like girlfriend,
Anya say “We are engaged!” She proudly raised a fine crystalized gem wrapping around her ring
finger. Stunned by the sudden news, an ugly envious feeling grew in me at the sight of it. Hope
that was perching in my heart shattered into pieces. With my intoxicated demeanor, and the
infuriating rage pressurized to come out, I rushed and said, “Ajax? But we kissed!” I slammed
my fist on the table, and shamelessly caught everyone at the business dinner's attention. The
painful deafening silence gradually made me realize what I have done. Our illicit secret is now a
known fact to everyone here in the restaurant.
As the clock strikes midnight, I hear Anya’s lover’s rage, ruthlessly stabbing Ajax’s
peace of mind, “All this time you are telling me that during the moments you stood me up on
many of our dates, you were getting it with Jace? Am I just a battery to keep you energized? Is it
like that?” My shoulders stiffened and guilt spread through me like wildfire. What have I done? I
took a moment to collect my thoughts and think of ways how I can fix this. Can I even fix this?
Ajax ensues with his tantalizing fraudulence, “I promise it’s nothing like that, can we talk
about this somewhere else?” Nothing? The nights he made me his own and the promises he
whispered were nothing? I know he loves her dearly, but to hear it coming out of his mouth
weakened my knees.
“Okay, for once I won’t agree with your reasons, you are gone with the guilt of your
treason”
As I detach my hands from the building cement, eavesdropping on their lover’s quarrel, I
then run to the bus stop and vanish into my comfort zone, lying on my bed as I spill all of my
lover’s tears and heart shards. I must have been daydreaming to assume this dinner was going to
be the night we become official. How can someone like him love me? How can those sweet
nights be compared to something true?
The ray of sunshine pierced through my eyes, and I groaned in annoyance as I realized
it’s now morning. I stepped out of my welcoming mattress and rushed to the bathroom to cleanse
my body with the frosty water of dawn. Suited up, I paced my way to the entry of the business
office. In a flash, a burly hand pulled me into a room before I could react.
A familiar smug face consumed my vision which relaxed the alertness that triggered my
body. Gently I breathed, “Ajax?”
“Jace.”
The serious tone of his voice caught me off guard.
“What’s the matter?”
“You really don’t remember, ugh this sucks. You were drunk and blasted all of our
homosexual shenanigans to everyone in our department last night”
“Oh? Well… I think you deserved it for playing with me and your girl at the same time,
do you have no shame?” I must be mad even to say this, but I can’t help but spill my bitterness.
“You could’ve told me, I thought we agreed we were just flings”
Anger stirred and the desire to strike his face grew strong. “Goodbye Ajax” I bid farewell
to him as I harshly slammed the abandoned office door on him, making a blaring sound enough
to alert everyone in the whole building. Call me petty, but he is ruthless.
Months have passed, and I would see them in the canteen being all lovey-dovey as if
nothing happened. Everyone was sick of their lavender haze, but I loathed it. Letting him go has
released the inner demons that ate me up every damn day. I wished I had done more than just left
him. I shrugged off this sign of weakness and got on with my day, ignoring the sharp looks
people would give me.
Time has passed, and the scandalous incident a year before has died down, Jace wakes up
in his friend’s house, naked and cold with a white cozy blanket all over him, the realization
making him still like ice. “What a way to ruin a relationship, Jace.” And there they are again,
trapped in this endless cycle of enticing pinning. Not ready to let go of their old life, and not
ready to accept the truth between them.
