LET THEM FLY

‘There is no greater disability in society than the inability to see a
person as more.’ – Robert M. Hensel

Out of all the things that inspire us, have we stopped for a
moment to think about the people with disabilities? We may have
multiple prejudices about them. Yet there are lots of people who
have disabilities, yet they manage to overcome the odds and
achieve greatness. They are not and should not be a subject of our
sympathy. We need to begin treating them as equals.

LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN

He is known for his works such as Fur Elise etc. By 1817, he was
completely deaf. He could no longer play in concerts yet he
continued composing . He composed many of his greatest works
after 1817. He was said to be the greatest composers of his time.

SAI PRASAD VISHWANATHAN

He lost sensation in lower half of his body when he was
child, but that did not stop him. He still became India’s first
skydiver and got the Limca Book Record for being the first
Indian with disability to skydive from 14000 feet.

GEORGE HENRY DAVIDSON

He is a Minecraft youtuber and streamer. He has colour
blindness yet he records videos and has become an inspiration
to many including myself. He was what actually inspired me to
learn more about disable people.

DREAMING BIG ENOUGH

“No dream is ever too small, no dream is ever

too big”.Well to begin with my dream changes
with everytime. For instance, when we
travelled to Dubai two months back, I was so
fascinated by the beautiful air-
hostesses that I dreamt of becoming one.
When we returned back, I insisted on
serving water to everyone on a tray!
On a serious note, I dream of being a chef and
open a chain of restaurants all over
the globe. Mom says that I can be what I ever
want to be BUT the only way to make
the dream come true is to WORK HARD.
All children have dreams to become someone-
a pilot, a fashion designer, a chef, a
teacher, a painter, a singer like Taylor Swift or
a dancer!! No dream is small, no
dream is big. All that is BIG or SMALL are the
efforts put in to achieve the dream!!
That proves that hard work and sincerity are
the keys to make our dreams come
true. So let us DREAM and WORK towards it!!

Nivedita Bhalla 6E
WHO IS SHE?
She stood in front of the mirror
What did she see?
An image of an object,
Or was it who she wanted to be?

She had fire in her soul,

And grace in her heart.

She woke up and decided

To unleash the magic.
When she learned,
How much she was worth.

She was smarter,

She spoke less,
She remembered who she was.

And the game changed,

She has now found her style.
She is powerful,
Not afraid to be different
She is art,she is you.

MY SUPERHERO?
Teachers,Magical creatures?
Do they have super powers too?
They are perfect in everyway
Unlike me and you.

Sometimes sweet, Sometimes sour

You may never know, their wisdom like the
snow
They sow the seeds in our minds
Used to help us grow

She rows our boat through rough times

She is my mom at school
My teachers are the best!
They’re so cool!

They hold my hand in the dark

Guiding me to the light.
Here us students take flight
Soaring high in the sky

And if you fight

Just hug it out
That’s what she says
Because once you do,
This little sprout
Will grow big again.

So all I want to say….

That for me, everyday is Teacher’s Day!

HOPE
Like the light at the end of the tunnel
Like the quiet in between the daily hustle

When mother earth let us down

And it was no one’s fault that we got hurt
Hope was what we found
Hope for a better earth

When we let mother earth down

And had sinned gravely
Hope was what we found
Hope to face the consequences bravely

When another let us down

And hurt us with intent
Hope was what we found
Hope to once again, be content

When we let another down

And felt Immense guilt and regret
Hope was what we found
Hope to not again, make them upset

When we let ourselves down

And we ourselves felt the pain
Hope was what we found
Hope to have a second chance to regain

It has been with us through all our times

A rope to climb out of our pit
And whenever we feel helpless
Hope is what we’re consumed with

THINQ NAVY QUIZ
After witnessing the NWWA quiz last year i had made up
my mind to represent the school next year for the
prestigious NAVY QUIZ. We got the news that the Annual
NWWA has become a quiz of a national magnitude. After
many selections, Antara Mazumdar, deputy head girl and
I Antriksh Rastogi head boy were selected to represent
the school for the national level ThinQ. Everything
seemed so organised yet number of registered schools
looked daunting. More than 6000 schools! 3 huge national
level elimination rounds to get the top 16 teams of the
nation. With our mentor Runa Sarkar maam and our
school’s guidance we cleared the first round. The Quarter
Final was the toughest. 1000 schools and only the top 16
in the country would go for semifinals. The programme
involved a 7 day trip to 3 major naval bases, quiz on the
majestic INS Vikramaditya and much more! It was
unbelievable and enticing.

Fortunately we made it to the semi finals The last

touches to our prep began. In the evening, it was the
time for the grand finale. The atmosphere was
electrifying. The top 8 teams of the country
amongst thousands of schools competing against
each other in an epic battle of wits. The Chief of
Naval Staff, Admiral R Harikumar and Mrs
Harikumar along with other high ranking naval
officers and dignitaries were present. It was being
live streamed. It was a tough match with all teams
putting their best and battling for the top spot,
there were ups and downs.
We pressed the buzzer a little late and missed out
on a top 3 spot. But, we finished 5TH in the country!

What an experience! It was not about winning or losing. It was about learning
and growing. This was a truly wonderful experience and we will always be
grateful to the Indian Navy and NWWA for an experience of a lifetime.

FORTIS MENTAL
HEALTH PSYCH-ED
QUIZ

Life is about accepting the challenges along the way, choosing to keep moving forward, and
savoring the journey. For us, the Psych-ED quiz contest was a challenging mountain to scale. In
terms of learning and making memories, it was an amazing experience. Although we never intended
to win, I felt in my heart that our efforts would be rewarded. Despite missing our flight by an hour
before arriving at the airport, we ultimately prevailed and improved our standing from third to first.
We three had an innate understanding that we would give it our all to succeed, and it is what we
refer to as our destiny for that particular evening. I am so grateful to have shared in this wonderful
event. I want to express my gratitude to everyone who has helped me from the start. The joint
efforts of my colleagues, professors, and I were very instrumental in our great accomplishment -

INTER - NCS KALA GANIT
DRAMA & MATHS QUIZ
In this busy world, only two things appeal me
the most i.e., MATHS and QUIZZES and when you
combine both, it fascinates me even more. I
along with one of my classmate and two seniors
attended the online quiz, representing our
beloved school in the ‘KALA GANIT MATHS QUIZ’
on 30th October 2022. It was an inter NCS quiz
which was being hosted by NCS Visakhapatnam.
At first, we had to face the difficulty of
preliminary round. We got a set of questions in
the form of MS forms, which we had to submit
within 30 minutes.

We all were charged up and tried

our level best to solve those
questions. We submitted the form
within the time limit. Finally, the
results for the preliminary round
were declared and our efforts did
answer and we were selected for
the final round. The difficulty of
the questions increased
significantly. Still, we tried our
best to tackle the difficulty but
Alas! We didn’t manage to get a
position this time. The host NCS
i.e., NCS Visakhapatnam secured
the first position. Even though we
didn’t secure a position but it was
a great learning experience and I
would look forward to participate
in these kinds of quizzes regularly.

STARRY NIGHT
Organised by TIFR

On 8 December 2022 the school organised a unique event for the students called "Night Sky
viewing". This was carried out by TIFR wherein scientists with high powered telescopes were
sent to show the students Jupiter and Saturn which were visible in the night sky that day.
Moreover, we also got to see our familiar moon in a different light!
It was a wonderful experience as before the actual viewing, a quiz to provide the students
with and test their knowledge was conducted. Visiting the school at night was also an
exciting opportunity

GIRLS' KABBADI 2022

"Kabaddi, a game where you have to defend, attack and think of game-winning strategies
concurrently while holding your breath, is surely an epitome of multitasking and I am beyond
grateful that I got to play such a beautiful sport and be a part of the U-19 school kabaddi team!
Kabaddi Clusters were the most memorable 4 days of 2022. From the train rides to living in the
same dormitory, we laughed, cried, got injured few times, yet all of it was worth it when we
returned with that gleaming trophy in hand. Lifting the trophy and hearing the victory clap for
NCS was an indescribable feeling."

NCC CAMP

Hania Hussain 11D

This winter, we had an NCC camp organized at B.K Birla College, Kalyan. It was an 8-
day camp. Our seniors told us that it would be very vigorous and tiring, and they were
right. Our daily routine was to wake up at 5:30 and reach the parade ground for a hands
call. A hands call is like a roll call or a head count. At around 6:30, we would be divided
into groups for physical education. After an hour, we were sent back to our dorms to get
our utensils for breakfast. JW's (girls) and JD's (boys) had two separate lines to get our
food. In my opinion, the food was really bad, sometimes the food was sloppy and sticky,
the dal was watery and the rice was half cooked. We made a few friends in our dorm
room who were with us throughout the journey. Since this camp was over New Year's,
the camp organisers had planned a cultural programme for us. We had lectures and
guest speakers. A best cadet competition was held too, which I was selected for. Overall,
the experience was great and definately something everyone should experience atleast
once.

VISIT TO BSE
The scope of theoretical knowledge increases
manifolds upon the healthy infusion of practical
knowledge. NCS Mumbai being an avid believer
of this, took a step ahead and enhanced the
learning and understanding of students of
economics students about stock markets and
trading by organising a physical visit to the
Bombay Stock Exchange. Guided by Mrs Varsha
Mistry, a bus full of enthusiasm and curiousity
reached the gates of this prestigious building. A
quick photoshoot session followed with everyone
posing with the famous 'bull' of the stock market.
Upon verification of their identity they were
guarded to the community hall to have a
discussion about trading. A renowned public
speaker and trader greeted the students. A very
informative and interactive session followed
where children were given an opportunity to
speak up their ideas and opinions. Unfortunately,
due to constraint of time, a short tour followed
by their departure had to be done. Nevertheless
it was a beautiful day, worthy of a cherishing
image at the memory wall. Perhaps someday
soon these children will return to the Stock
Exchange, only this time not as visitors.

GOODBYE.
It's our last day at school. We try to take in the most of it, make the best of memories on
this day, We pause for a moment to look back at those 12 years of cherishing school life
we've spent and how it's time now to vacate the secure portals of this home, to venture out
and discover the vast world in stock for us. School life was hard, stressful, fun, weird,
confusing but most importantly it was 'epic'.
Counting down memories we take a walk past the memory lane, All the fights yet getting
back together in a few hours, drawn together by our indomitable friendship, teasing each
other by the names of our crushes, carving out our names on the benches to leave our
permanent mark on them. The crowd cheering on sports days, or the class parties we've
had, the annual days we were part of and the struggle to eat at the canteen. From finding
out brilliant ways to cheat in the exam to constant visits to the staff rooms. To live for the
thrill of bunking classes, or the set of neatly laid out rules and regulations that we proudly
flouted, we'll miss it all.
We Sailed through and passed tough times, through the pandemic too, together. Going
through the same corridors, the pathways and the secret hideouts just one last time,
realising this time will never come back again our eyes were filled with sadness and grief
and our eyes glisten with tears at the nostalgia yet to come to account for all the
wonderful days we've spent.
All those people we loathed being around, we engulf them in a warm embrace.
We listen to the bell ringing for the last time, hit by the realisation that the cacophonic
disruption would remain as a euphonic melody in our hearts now. We entered school crying
and exited the same, everything in between was a beautiful journey, worth cherishing
forever. Finally, with a heart full of memories and eyes full of tears and certainty of
unbounded nostalgia we take our last few steps and move out of the place we called
home. ♡
