Lebron “King” James

Lebron James known as “King James” was born December 30, 1984 in Akron,

Ohio. (Wikipedia) His mother had him at a young age 16 years old when she gave birth

to Lebron James. His dad was never really around in his life because he was always in

trouble with the law when Lebron was young. When James was growing up he

struggled a lot moving from place to place with his mother Gloria. James' mom wanted

him to move in with his local youth football coach Frank Walker because she felt that

would be a good fit for him. Also, Frank got James to like basketball when he was nine

years old. James started playing AAU basketball when he was in fifth grade (Wikipedia).

His team was called Northeast Ohio shooting stars. James and his 4 teammates were

dominating the league and started calling their group name the “fab four”. They

decided that they would attend the same high school as each other. The high school

they would be attending was St Vincent St Mary, a private school in Akron Ohio. As a

freshman in highschool Lebron James was 6 '2 and his average per game was 21

points and 6 rebounds on varsity (Biography.com, A&E Networks Television). The team

went undefeated and won the division 3 state championship and was the only boys

team to finish undefeated in Ohio. His sophomore year he averaged 25 points a game

and had rebounds, assists and steals during each game. For some of his home games

in his sophomore year they played at Akron University. College coaches and NBA

scouts came to watch James play. The Fighting Irish did not go undefeated this season.

They lost one game during the regular season but still were state champions again.

Lebron James was named Mr. Ohio basketball by the end of sophomore year and was

selected to the USA all star team. In his high school years he was an incredible player

and graduated with many honors in basketball. He entered the NBA draft in 2003 by

the Cleveland Cavaliers. He played for them from 2003-2010. During his rookie season

Lebron James was the first Cavalier to receive the NBA rookie of the year award. Even

though he did not take the Cavaliers to the playoffs. When he played for the Cavaliers

he improved their performance by 18 games over the previous year. James got selected

to his first all star game in the 2004-2005 season. He then became a free agent July

1st 2010 and signed with the Miami Heat. The decision caused Lebron to go to the

Miami Heat , it caused quite a mess with players, owners, supporters and fans. During

the 2012 season Lebron James took his team to the NBA finals and won the title by

defeating the OKC Thunder in 5 games. The time that James was with the Miami Heat

he won two NBA championships and two MVP awards. He left the Miami Heat to return

to the Cleveland Cavaliers. When he returned to the cavaliers he had a few injuries that

kept him from playing for two weeks 2014-2015 season. Lebron took the Cavaliers to 5

playoffs appearances in the NBA finals in his career. In 2016 the Cleveland Cavaliers

won the NBA finals against the Golden State Warriors. He became a free agent and

signed with the Lakers in 2018 (Encyclopaedia Britannica). He took them to the NBA

finals and became one of the only players to win a title with three different teams.

James recently just became the world's highest scoring player with over 38,388 points

in his career. He beat out Abdul-Jabbar.
