Each location (Upper and Lower) is capable of storing 16 digits each, STORING PHONE NUMBERS FOR ONE-TOUCH DIALING Be sure that the handset is on the cradle and the AC adaptor is connected. PROGRAM NOTE: Do not disconnect the AC adaptor and the telephone cord for over 10 minutes, or the stored phone numbers will be lost and reprogramming will be required -11- An Outside Line or a Computer Accessed Line (PAUSE Usage) The PAUSE button function is only helpful in the Automatic Dialing when accessing an outside line or a Computer-Accessed long distance service. To use this function, store “PAUSE” with the telephone number into memory station beforehand. For more details please see the brochure issued by your telephone company. While having a conversation, another party calls and a tone is heard 2 Push FLASH lightly. NUMBERS” on page 9. SWITCHING FROM PULSE MODE TO TONE MODE (TONE BUTTON USAGE) If you want to change from pulse mode into tone mode during dialing, the TONE button can be used. When you TONE hang up, the Dialing Mode will automatically return to pulse mode. COMBINATION DIALING Any combination of dialing methods can be done. Automatic and Manual Dialing Pulse and Tone Dialing Plural Memory Stations How to Operate as an Answering Machine * This unit records both Outgoing Message (OGM) and Incoming Message (ICM) | on the same micro cassette tape. * While the unit is preparing for recording, you'll hear a series of st.ort beeps (depending on the length of tape to be rewound/fast forwarded), and a long beep will tell you the tape is ready. * Before recording your OGM, refer to the “Sample of OGM" on page 15 tor accurate OGM recording. Initial Setting for Answering Machine Before operating your unit as an Answering Machine, you must record the Outgoing Message (OGM). Outgoing Message will inform the calling party of your absence and your message RECORDING THE OUTGOING MESSAGE The button for recording is inside the cassette compartment and marked “OGM”. 1 Push OGM until the OGM indicator lights, then release it. Lo A series of short beeps will sound followed by a long o beep 2 After the long beep, speak immediately to MIC clearly and loudly Speak for up to 30 seconds about 8 inches away from the MIC. While recording, do not pause for over 2 seconds. 3 When finished, push OGM quickly. ° A beep will be heard Aneel #Caller’s recording time is up to 30 seconds *A series of short beeps will be heard, while the tape is preparing for recording and a long beep means the tape is ready PLEASE RECORD THE BOLD-FACED SENTENCE ON THE OGM!! Hello, this is the Smith residence. We cannot come to the phone right now. \t you leave your name, phone number and message, we will return your call. You will hear a series of short beeps and then a long beep will be heard. Speak after the long beep. You have 30 seconds.” } NOTE When you hear the long beep, start to speak immediately. If you pause for over 2 seconds while recording OGM, the unit will stop recording and you will hear 6 beeps (warning tones). At this time, repeat from step 1 over to re-record your OGM. 15 Initial Setting for Answering Ma Chine (cont. CHECKING YOUR OGM You can check your OGM at any time 1 Push OGM quickly, then release it ° The unit will play back OGM, then rewind the tape to the O beginning. ome #Use the VOLUME CONTROL on the left side of the unit to regulate the volume during playback if necessary NOTES: *When you check your OGM, the OGM indicator will not light. If you hold the OGM button too long, the unit will go into the recording mode. *The unit will automatically change to the Answer mode, 10 seconds after completing the OGM recording or checking. At this time, the ANS/CALL indicator will light. Answer mode: When a call is received, the unit will automatically answer and record Incoming Messages on the tape. The ANS/CALL indicator is lit in the Answer mode. —-~ OGM Button and Indicator ——-Microphone ~16— Setting Prior to Leaving The unit will automatically set to the Answer mode by simply pushing the ANS SYS ON/OFF switch. When the telephone rings, the unit will play back the OGM, then it will record the caller's message on the tape. PREPARATION After reviewing the Outgoing or Incoming Message the unit will automatically reset itself to the Answer mode and will be ready to the next call After reviewing, To record the future messages from the beginning | of the ICM part of the tape YY | Leave the unit as is. | @ Before leaving home (or office) confirm that the ANS/CALL indicator lights. @ |f you do not want to set the unit to the Answer mode, set the ANS SYS ON/OFF switch to OFF ~17- Listening to Messages AUTO-LOGIC (One Touch Operation) One touch on the PLAYBACK/PAUSE button allows the unit to play back the messages and sound 3 beeps after the last message. Then 10 seconds later, the unit will rewind the tape and be ready to record new messages from the beginning of the ICM part of the tape LISTENING TO THE MESSAGES When an incoming Message (ICM) has been recorded, the ANS/CALL indicator will flash in groups. Each group indicates the number of calls received up to 15 times (i.e. --- -- means 3 messages were received). Although, the flashing is limited up to 15 times in a group, more messages can be recorded. In the case of a power interruption, the ANS/CALL indicator will flash slowly after the power is restored. 1 Push PLAYBACK/PAUSE. ©The unit will rewind the tape and play back the messages. The playback volume is adjustable using the VOLUME CONTROL lm If you want to listen to the messages again after resetting the tape 1 ecaroncnrpause Push PLAYBACK/PAUSE. #3 beeps will be heard. 2 Push it again before the ANS/CALL indicator lights. ©The unit will play back. To stop the tape temporarily, push the PLAYBACK/PAUSE button. (The PWR/IN. USE indicator will flash.) To restart, push it again | elf you receive a call while playing back, push the PLAYBACK/PAUSE button and | lift the handset, To listen to the message again during playback, push the REW button. The unit will start playing back immediately when you release the button *To record new messages from the beginning of the ICM part of the tape during | playing back, push the REW button until the tape stops and a beep sounds. 18 — Listening to Messages MONITORING THE INCOMING CALLS While an Incoming Message is being recorded, you can hear it 1 VOLUME Adjust the volume control i (Left side of your unit) Ih MAK MIN @ 'f you want to talk to the caller during recording of the ICM, lift the handset and talk. After hang up, the unit will automatically be ready to answer and record the next phone call. SAVING THE RECORDED MESSAGES You can save the desired messages. 7 Play back the tape to the messages you want to save 2 PLAYBACK PAUSE Push PLAYBACK/PAUSE and REW simultaneously. 2 seconds later, the unit will rewind the tape and be ready to answer the call The future Incoming Messages will be recorded after the MEMO messages you have saved ay ~19- Listening to Messages (cont.) RECORDING A PERSONAL MESSAGE (MESSAGE MEMO) You may record a message any time at home on the ICM part of the tape. (Right side of your unit) 2 While having a conversation, push MEMO/2 WAY until a ay beep, followed by a series of short beeps then a long beep will be heard A beep will sound every 15 seconds. 3 When you finished recording, push MEMO/2 WAY again MEMO, 2 way 20 How to Operate from a Remote Phone You can retrieve the recorded Incoming Messages from a remote location with a tone phone by simply pushing your own code number THE REMOTE CODE NUMBER A Remote Code Number for remote operation is presetted and indicated on the bottom of the unit. Before operation, refer to the bottom of the unit. SETTING THE ANSWER MODE This function allows you to set the Answer mode from a remote phone. 1 Call your unit and wait for 15 rings. ©OGM will be heard and hang up. The unit will be ready to answer the next phone call NOTES: ¢In some areas, a remote tone phone may not function due to telephone line conditions such as line noise, echo, etc The unit may not respond if a touch tone telephone produces tones that are too short to activate the unit MESSAGE PLAYBACK You can listen to the recorded messages by simply pushing the code number. 1 Call your unit and push the Code No. for 1~ 2 seconds during OGM or ICM recording mode The unit will rewind the tape even at the tape end, and you will hear all the messages on the tape. #3 beeps will be heard after the last message. 2 Hang up. *Future Incoming Messages will be recorded after the last message -21- How to Operate from a Remote Phone (cont.) WHILE HEARING THE MESSAGES (BACK SPACE) To listen to the same messages again during the playback 1 Push the Code No. for 1 ~ 2 seconds. The tape will rewind for approximately 15 seconds corresponding to playback time.
