Partial grants will be awarded to qualified individuals for study leading to Master’s or Doctoral degrees.
All grants are for periods of one academic year. Degree-track grants may be renewed for a second year.
Applicants should be at a level in their careers where they will receive maximum benefit from one
academic year of non-degree study in the United States. They must be employed in public or private sector
organizations or agencies with a public service orientation and continue employment upon their return.
Minimum five years of working experience required.
A nine-month non-degree program that provides young teachers of English an opportunity to refine their
teaching skills, increase their language proficiency and extend their knowledge of the society and culture
of the United States. FLTA candidate is required to teach Bahasa Melayu to U.S. students.
Provides opportunities for Malaysian academics to develop and update their research through interaction
and collaboration with distinguished counterparts in the United States. The grant allows successful
applicants to conduct research from three to six months at the appropriate American university.
Grants under this program are meant for Malaysian professionals to broaden their experience through
consultation, research and other professional enrichment programs at relevant institutions in the United
States for a period of three to six months. Practitioners from the public and private sectors are eligible to
apply.
The Fulbright U.S.-ASEAN Initiative Program is open to university faculty, foreign ministry and
government officials, and professional staff of private sectors, think tanks and other NGOs in ASEAN
Member States to travel to the United States for scholarly and professional research for four months on
issues that are relevant ASEAN and central to the U.S.-ASEAN relationship.
This program brings Malaysian secondary school teachers to the United States for a six-week to take
academic seminars for professional development at a host university, to observe and share their expertise
with teachers and students at the host university as well as at local primary and secondary schools.
Participating teachers will be placed in groups of approximately 20 at U.S. university schools of education.
The program is a field-driven initiative in which Malaysian host institutions conceptualize and design
projects of interest within the eligible discipline that represents a priority for their respective
organizations. It is a 2-6 weeks program, projects are paired with a highly qualified U.S. academic or
professional, who shares their expertise and assists with strengthening linkages between U.S. and
Malaysian host institutions.
Other Programs:
The Global UGRAD program will provide one-semester scholarships to outstanding undergraduate
students from non-elite under-represented groups, with a substantive exchange experience at U.S. College
or University. Scholarship will be granted to students who currently are enrolled in an undergraduate
degree program and have completed their first year prior starting the UGRAD program. Selected
participants must have at least one semester or equivalent term to complete at their home institution upon
completion of the UGRAD program.
