Ch – CHIN Sh – SHOP Th and ng – THING Oa – BOAT Teach Bring up /ai/ on the board. Does anyone know what the sound is? Sound out the /ai/ phoneme, children repeat. Write ‘ai’ grapheme on the board, demonstrate the letter formation. It’s sound is .., it’s name is … What is it’s name? Get them to write ai on their individual whiteboards and hold it above their head. Practice Read – AIM, CHAIN Words on the board, can we read them? Segment and blend Spell – Write words on their ind. whiteboards – WAIT, PAIN Draw sound buttons, how many?
