Healthy people 2020 is a set of objectives and goals designed to help in health

promotion and health condition prevention to improve Americans' health. It focuses on

achieving health equity. Healthy people 2020 strives to determine health improvement

priorities, engage different sectors to take measures to strengthen guidelines, and promote

practices driven by quality knowledge and evidence. It identifies crucial findings, assessment,

and information-gathering needs and gives measurable goals relevant at all levels (People,

2020). The weight status and nutrition objectives for healthy people 2020 support the health

benefits of eating a healthy diet and maintain healthy body weight. The goal also focuses on

changing diet, addressing individual behavior, policies, and environment that support these

behaviors. An individual may not be meeting this objective due to a lack of physical

activities, which results in one been overweight. Lack of a balanced diet exposes one to the

risk of malnutrition, diabetes, iron-deficiency anemia, and osteoporosis.

The regular exercise objective for healthy people 2020 focuses on enhancing the

quality of life, fitness, and health through routine physical activity. The objective outline

highlights how standard exercise levels are impacted by legislative guidelines that improve

access to an organization that supports physical activity (People, 2020). The objective is not

met due to a lack of everyday physical activities, which increases the risk of heart disease or

hypertension. Obesity and lack of motivation or time can make one not to take part in

physical activities. The vision objectives aim at evidence-based interventions to prevent

blindness and preserve sight. Vision is crucial in everyday life since it influences American in

their daily activities. Lack of eye screening and examination makes one not meet the

objectives hence increasing the risk of vision condition and issues. One can achieve the goals

by avoiding weight gain by engaging in physical activity. Besides, an individual can seek

education on a healthy diet and stick to the dash diet. Visiting an optician regular for eye

screening and physical examination to detect eye condition and diseases is vital in attaining

vision objective.
