Equipment Installation
CAUTION
ROUTE ALL CABLES AS TO NOT INTERFERE WITH HOT SURFACES, ROTATING COMPONENTS
OR MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS.

1. Park the aircraft on a flat level surface with the nose into the wind. Place the analyzer (Item 1) in
the flight compartment.
2. PhotoTach Installation:
a. Install PhotoTach (Item 3) into the PhotoTach Mount (Item 9) and attach to the top of the
tail boom, using the screw on the top of the tail gearbox cover. Make sure that the
PhotoTach faces the left side of the aircraft shining at the back side of the tail rotor.
(Figure 1).
b. Connect the Tach Cable (Item 4) to the PhotoTach and safely route cable to the analyzer.
c. Connect to the “TACH 1” connector on the analyzer.
3. Reflective Tape Installation:
a. On the Analyzer Main Menu select “Check Tach Power”. The “Tach Power” screen will
be displayed. Press F1 “Tach 1” to power the PhotoTach.

b. Hold a 2’ piece of Reflective Tape (Item8) against the back side of the Target Blade.
c. When properly aligned, the red “GATE” light will illuminate on the back of the
PhotoTach. If possible adjust the PhotoTach to obtain an angle of 5 degrees from
perpendicular to the tape. This will produce the best results when reading RPM.
d. Install the tape on the, cleaned, desired location. (Figure 3)
4. Vibration Sensor Installation:
a. Install Sensor (Item 5) into the Mount (Item 7) and attach to the 90-degree gearbox cover
on the opposite side of the tail rotor.
b. Insure the connector is pointing UP.
c. Connect the Vibe cable (Item 6) to the Sensor and safely route cable to the analyzer.
d. Connect to the “CHANNEL A” connector on the analyzer. (Figure 2)
5. OPTIONAL STEP:
a. Number the holes on the tail rotor balance wheel as shown in Figure 3. If omitted, be sure
to refer to the diagram shown in Figure 3 for the proper hole assignments.
