Then Vs Now

Well, I'll say that if I were to go back to a certain point in history in the last 100 years, the 80s
is where I'd like to visit first. It seemed really fascinating to me, especially after watching
movies that came out then.

It was an unforgettable time marked by video games, music, movies and fashion. We all
moved to the rhythm of the king and queen of pop, dressed in strong colors and shoulder
pads in full unisex trend. Polo shirts with political or humorous messages as well as the
famous “Smiley Face” were everywhere.

In the 80s if you wanted to know something, you’d ask your dad, and if he didn’t know, you’d
look it up in an encyclopedia. You might have a set in your house or have to go to a library,
which was a giant building filled with books.

Video games were quickly becoming commonplace in the lifestyle. Nintendo came out with
their entertainment system (NES), which quickly became a must have item, especially when
compared witCah the atari models at the time.

Cable TV was an extra charge not everyone had access to. It was like a luxury for some to
get HBO for example. Without it you were just stuck with the regular channels.
phones had cords and were attached to the wall, and people answered them when they rang
as if it might be something important. And everyone in the house shared that phone.

But it was also a time of great advances and discoveries like the first PC or the internet. In
addition, it was the decade where artists such as the king of pop, Michael Jackson, shone,
and at the regional level, dictatorships in several Latin American countries ended.
