RELIGIOUS RITES AND RITUALS

Religious rites- an established ceremony prescribed by a religion.

 Prayer- prayer, an act of communication by humans with the


sacred or holy—God, the gods, the transcendent realm, or
supernatural powers.

 Petition and Confession- prayer of petition is a request to God that


asks him to fulfill a need. By prayer of petition, Catholics
acknowledge their dependence on God.
the acknowledgment of sinfulness in public or private, regarded
as necessary to obtain divine forgiveness.

 Vows- a solemn promise or statement. especially : one by which a


person is bound to an act, service, or condition.

 Ordination- is the sacramental ceremony in which a man becomes


a deacon, priest, or bishop and enabled to minister in Christ's
name and that of the Church.

 Baptism and Confirmation- Christian sacrament marked by ritual


use of water and admitting the recipient to the Christian
community.

is the sacrament by which Catholics receive a special outpouring


of the Holy Spirit.
 Marriage- a legally and socially sanctioned union, usually between
a man and a woman, that is regulated by laws, rules, customs,
beliefs, and attitudes that prescribe the rights and duties of the
partners and accords status to their offspring (if any).

 Funeral and Burials- Funerals underpin a necessary part of


grieving as they reinforce the reality that the death has actually
happened. We need to allow our grief to surface and a funeral
provides a safe and appropriate place to show and share our
feelings with others.
The body is transported to the cemetery or mausoleum where the
priest,  minister or other religious leader will say final words. 

 Communion and Eucharist- Catholics receive the really-present


Christ in Communion so that they may be Christ in the world.
Catholics believe that when one consumes the Eucharist, one is
incorporated into Christ and becomes bonded to others who are
also part of the body of Christ on Earth.

Sacraments are efficacious signs of grace, instituted by Christ and


entrusted to the Church, through which Divine life is given.

There are seven Sacraments: Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist,


Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, Matrimony, and Holy Orders.
Religious rituals- a religious ritual is any repetitive and patterned
behavior that is prescribed by or tied to a religious institution,
belief, or custom, often with the intention of communicating with
a deity or supernatural power.

 Christ's Death and Resurrection- The resurrection of Jesus


confirms that God accepted Christ's sacrifice for sin on the cross
and gives us access to a right relationship with Him.

 Processions of religious floats are one of the main activities during


the week, when Filipino Catholics commemorate the passion of
Jesus Christ.

 The Pasyon- (Passion) The Pasyón (Spanish: Pasión) is a Philippine


epic narrative of the life of Jesus Christ, focused on his Passion,
Death, and Resurrection.

 Holy Week is the most important week in the Church's year. It is a


time when we celebrate the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.
We remember his actions, reflect on his messages and recommit
to living as his disciples in the world today.

 Good Friday is the day on which Catholics commemorate the


crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

During Holy Week, it's possible to get away from the bustle of c
ity life and visit some of the tranquil beaches and stunning scen
ery that the archipelago has to offer.It provides a break from M
anila's traffic congestion as well.
