Assessment Task
Activity No. 1:
Explain the following questions.
1. State the circumstances that may motivate a sole proprietorship business to
get its accounts audited by an auditor.
Being honest and real in the field of your specialty is a great way to go on
with the business but to ascertain the true and fair view of the state of affairs of
the business, I believe that it needs an auditor to help in properly assess different
kinds of situations. In a business it is not possible to have conflicts since you
encounter a lot o people, they tend to slip some intentional and unintentional
motives about the flow of your business. In order to prevent some big problems
ahead of the road, you need an auditor t o detect and prevent errors, frauds and
irregularities that may have been committed by the staff in the future. I see that if
you are running a business you need to invest and seek opportunities that will
help your business to thrive in a long run, and having a trusted auditor in your
company is a great investment that will help you t o secure loans from the Banks
and other Financial Institutions who insist on the audit accounts. There are a lot
of possibilities and uncertainties in this industry and having a great team is what
it takes to go for the long run.

2. What is your perception of IT Audit, specifically with regards to this business?

Based on a blog spot about CiA (Careers in Audit), A n IT Auditor within an
organization is the one that maintain the security of the company’s IT systems,
ensuring they are efficient and cost effective. They are in-charge of maintaining
the firm’s internal controls, records and data as well as to help organi zations
operate within the law to guarantee they’re not in breach of compliance and
regulatory standards.
As a BSAIS student with a dream of becoming an IT auditor it is essential to
know about the scope of work of this kind of job. Knowing the risks a hold in this
job makes us thrilled and excited of what we can do to become a great auditor
someday. I believed that this job is not an easy task, it involves communicating
with people, gathering information and planning, and then gaining an
understanding of the existing internal control structure which can helped in
assessing the risks and decide as to whether to perform compliance testing or
substantive testing. As a future IT Auditor, I have read in an online article that the
key pieces of information that you will need in the initial steps is a current
business impact analysis, to assist you in selecting the application which
supports the most critical or sensitive business functions .
