Week 1
We use WILL in the following circumstances:

1. For things that we decide to do now. (Rapid Decisions)

This is when you make a decision at that moment, in a spontaneous way.

 I'll call a taxi for you.


 I think we'll go right now. (I just decided this right now)
 Which one? Um, I will have the chicken sandwich please.

2. When we think or believe something about the future. (Prediction)


This can be based on personal judgement or opinion.

 The President will not be re-elected at the next election.


 I think it will rain later so take an umbrella with you.
 I think you will find the movie interesting.

3. To make an offer, a promise or a threat.

 You look tired. I'll finish the dishes for you.


 I will do my best to help you.
 If you say anything I will kill you!
 I will have it ready by tomorrow.
 I'll drive you to work if you want.
 Don't worry, I won't tell anyone. (won't = will not)

4. For a habit that is a predictable behaviour

 My daughter will fall asleep as soon as she is put into bed.


 He will give up if he starts losing. He always does that.

5. You use WON'T when someone refuses to do something.

 I told him to clean his room but he won't do it.


 She won't listen to anything I say.

 I will go to the cinema tonight.


 He will play tennis tomorrow.
 She will be happy with her exam results.
 They will take the bus to the South next week.

Time expressions for future predictions and decisions : next summer - next year -

Reading. THE GRADUATION
Sammy: Will you study a higher degree?
Hillary: I don’t know. For now, I will work in an office.
Sammy: Sounds nice. I will also work for a while and then start a business.
Hillary: Really? Great! It will be a successful life for you!
Sammy: I hope so. It will be challenging for both of us!
Hillary: Of course! That´s why we will see each other all the way!
Sammy: Indeed, at least every week we will make a barbecue!

WEEK 3
BE GOING TO
Be going to is used:
Intentions
We use be going to to talk about future plans and intentions. Usually the decision about
the future plans has already been made:

 She’s going to be a professional dancer when she grows up.


 I’m going to look for a new place to live next month.
 I’m going to take a few exams at the end of the year.

Predictions
We use be going to to predict something that we think is certain to happen or which we
have evidence for now:
 It’s going to snow again soon. (The speaker can probably see dark snow clouds.)
 Look out! He’s going to break that glass.

Activity 4
Read and listen to your teacher.

 It's late so I don't think he's going to do his homework tonight.


 Look at those clouds. It's going to rain soon.
 We're not going to see my mother this summer.
 My favorite team is going to play tomorrow evening.
 He's going to tell his boss he's resigning today.
 I'm afraid they're not going to read the whole report.

WEEK 4

Reading: Holidays in Thailand

On my next holiday, I’m going to Thailand. I’m going to buy my plane tickets tomorrow.
I’m pretty sure I’m going to fly into Bangkok on the 5th of April, and I’m going to stay in a hotel in
the city center. I’m going to visit all the important sights, and I’m going to spend some time at the
beach.
I love Thai food, so I’m going to eat a lot of delicious noodles and more.
After two weeks, on the 19th of April, I’m going to fly home. It’s going to be an exciting trip!
