As a result of conditions observed and the age of the building, and areas accessible to children under 6 years old, a lead investigation of this building was performed on January 24, 2023. The property was originally built between 1933-1954. The school consist of two building a single story building built in 1998 and a 3 story building built between 1933-1954. The Property had brick siding and vinyl windows. The property is considered to be in fair condition. Purpose of Investigation An environmental investigation was conducted to determine the presence of lead poisoning hazards in accordance with North Carolina General Statute 130A-131.9A. Investigation Methods Used * X-Ray Fluorescence Analyzer, (XRF) (to test painted surfaces) © Dust Sampling * Soil Sampling Water Sampling FINDINGS: During the investigation, an XRF analyzer was used to test surfaces for the presence of lead-based paint, An XRF reading of 1.0 milligrams per square centimeter (mg/cm?) or above indicates lead poisoning hazards on readily accessible or mouthable lead-bearing substances, including lead- based paint. Locations identified as positive for lead- based paint are listed below: Interior: Handicapped Girls Bathroom Sink Art Room Closest Door Casing, Art Room Closet Door Jamb and Art Room Closet Door Stop Cafeteria Door Casing Lower Doorway Casing Blocks Gym Entry Ceiling Gym Entry Walls Gym Entry Crown Molding Gym Entry Under Stair Doorway Gym Ceiling 2206 Closet Door Casing and 2206 Closet Door 2206 Closet Metal Wall Interior (deemed Int Cafeteria Window Casing Boys Bathroom Window Casing ** Not all surfaces were tested with the XRF analyzer. However, if a surface tests positive for being a lead poisoning hazards, homogeneous or like components in the same area with similar paint histories are also considered lead poisoning hazards. 4 Areas where lead-based paint is presently intact should be maintained intact or these areas could become lead poisoning hazards in the future. # ENVIRONMENTAL SAMPLING RESULTS Environmental samples were collected and submitted to the State Laboratory of Public Health for analysis. The standards listed in the table below are the levels established by N.C. State Law and are considered to be lead poisoning hazards.
