FCE Phrasal Verb Review Game

This review game features the phrasal verbs found in the first five chapters of the
Pearson Gold FCE book
1. Cut up the words
2. Scatter on the floor
3. Put students into two groups
4. Read out the definition
5. One student from each group has to grab the correct words and put them on the table
6. If they get it correct, the group keeps the piece of paper
7. If it is wrong, the group has to put the pieces back and try again
8. The winners at the end of the task are the group with the most pieces of paper

Turn down – refuse an invitation


Make up for – improve a bad situation OR do something to show you are
sorry
Turn away – refuse someone permission to enter a place
Be over – to be finished
Come across – appear to be OR find by chance
Turn out – have a particular or unexpected result
Take off – to suddenly become successful OR when a plane leaves the runway
OR to remove clothing
Agree with – when you believe the same thing as someone else
Take after – to inherit features from a parent, grandparent etc.
Take over – become responsible for something
Look up to – admire
Get rid of – make someone leave OR throw something away
Turn up – arrive somewhere either when someone is expecting you OR as a
surprise
