ASSESSMENT:

1. Why is it necessary to understand the organization structure of hotels?

Organizational structure is crucial for firms because it facilitates the implementation of effective

decision-making procedures. Businesses can make better decisions more quickly by giving specialized

jobs to lower-level staff. With the aid of an organization, hotels may more readily plan the right

allocation of resources based on clearly defined goals and more clearly demonstrate the role of each

department and their interdependencies.

2. Research and explain further the ff:

A. Individually Operated/Single Proprietorship

A sole proprietorship can be owned and managed by an individual, a business, or a limited liability

partnership. There are no partners in the company. A sole proprietorship has the following legal status:

it is not a separate legal entity from the business owner. A sole proprietor is an individual who owns an

unincorporated business on his or her own. If you are the sole member of a domestic limited liability

company (LLC), however, you are not a sole proprietor if you choose to treat the LLC as a corporation.
B. Management Contract

You can streamline and automate your approach to managing already-existing contracts and developing

new ones by using contract management, which is the process of addressing and carrying out contracts’

duties for vendors, clients, workers, or others. It aids in cost management, revenue management,

productivity improvement, and error reduction.

C. Franchising

A franchise, also known as franchising, is a method of selling goods or services that entails both a

franchisor, who creates the brand’s trade name and business system, and a franchisee, who pays a

royalty and frequently an upfront fee in exchange for the right to use the franchisor’s name and system.

3. Explain the functions of the six major hotel departments.

 Room division/Rooms Departments

Oversee a hotels front desk, guest services and housekeeping department teams. They report to the

General Manager and play an important role in ensuring a high level of guest service.

 Food and Beverage Department

In a hotel is responsible for everything from serving food to keeping dining spaces tidy to restaurant

inventory while the workers within the food and beverage division work for the hotel, their main

focus is on the dining and beverage service.

 Sales and Marketing Department

Keeping your customers happy is the role of the sales and marketing team. They should send your

customers surveys, request product reviews, and try to find ways to upsell them. Any customer

issues should be resolved by the sales and marketing team as far as possible.
 Human Resources Management Department

Some of the primary functions of HRM include job design and job analysis, recruitment/hiring and

selection, training and development, compensation and benefits, performance management,

managerial relations and labor relations.

 Accounting Department

An accounting department provides accounting services and manages the finances of a company its

responsibilities include recording accounts, paying bills, billing clients, and customers, tracking assets

and expenditures, managing payroll and keeping track of critical tax documents.

 Engineering/Maintenance Departments

Maintenance engineer’s work involves checking, repairing and servicing machinery, equipment, systems

and infrastructures. Maintenance engineers ensure that industrial machinery and equipment runs

smoothly and reliably. Their work typically involves; planning and undertaking schedules maintenance.
