KNOWLEDGE BUILDING
The moral of the necklace story is that we should not judge people based on their
outward looks since they may appear wealthy and accomplished but are not. It also
teaches us not to yearn for material stuff, but to appreciate what we do have. And, we
should accept on what we are and what we have.
The story was told from a limited third-person point of view, in which the narrator only
understands one character's thoughts and feelings, while other characters are only seen
from the outside.
The external problem in Madame Loisel's short story The Necklace is that she needs to
replace the necklace. She believes the necklace is quite valuable and is unsure what
they should do with it. After the party, Loisel and Monsieur Loisel had to go find the
replica of the necklace she had lost.
5. Who are the major characters in the story? Provide short descriptions of
each character.
Mathilde Loisel, Monsieur Loisel, and Madame Forestier are the central characters in
the story. Mathilde, the protagonist, is attractive and outgoing, and she desires high-end
products to reflect her refined taste. However, because she was born into a clerk's
family and married another clerk, she is unable to purchase the clothing, accessories,
and household objects that she desires, which makes her miserable.
Monsieur Loisel, Mathilde's spouse, is a happy man who enjoys simple pleasures. He
adores Mathilde and tries to make her happy by arranging for her to attend a nice party.
Mathilde's friend is Madame Forestier. Mathilde is envious because she is wealthy.
CRITICAL THINKING
CREATING
The tale was a fantastic work that reflected on what was going on at the time.
And when "Footnote to Youth" was published, Jose Garcia Villa depicted two major
issues: the rapid increase in population and the miseries it brought to the cultivators.
This also refers to the time period in which the story took place, which was a moment of
considerable economic turbulence in the country.
Despite the fact that the situation at the time the story was written was different, it
still applies now. There is a desire for the young people to marry. I'm not sure if it's a
joke or not, but one thing is certain and consistent: aiming or acting without hesitation.
"The sun was salmon and hazy in the west" The story began with the words "this
applies logic." Sunrise is commonly associated with the beginning of life. However, in
the story, the sun sets in the west, which may imply the reverse. In relation to the plot, it
denotes the character's final years of youth.
The main idea of the story is the ignorance of youth. Wanting to engage in a
situation without any thinking of what is going to be the consequences.
