Organizations are now realizing that they must manage the lifespan of information
from generation to disposal, and that data is the new oil. Cloud services have made it
simpler for enterprises to swiftly install, scale up, or break down services, and the
"Uber Economy" has challenged formerly dominating services. Collaboration and
social media technologies have enhanced the possibilities for co-creation of services.
Technology architecture is becoming increasingly important for managing information
across many domains and business units, and security is essential for how firms
handle information and technology.
There isn't a single entity with the resources necessary to create and oversee the full
supply chain for its services or service management framework. Value is increasingly
created via collaboration, and partners and suppliers are essential. Usually, the
organization's needs determine how the connection with partners and suppliers is
defined. Others are simple to replace, but certain suppliers are strategically important.
A system called SIAM (Service Integration and Management) is employed to
implement and oversee coordinated, shared procedures among several partners and
providers. Depending on the organization's demands, service integration may be
conducted internally by the company or contracted out to a partner or unaffiliated third
party.
The value streams and processes dimension looks at how the organization's many
components work together to allow value generation through goods and services. This
dimension outlines the methods, workflows, controls, and activities required to meet
predetermined goals. In order to properly manage products and services, a firm must
set up an operational model that effectively coordinates such operations.
