make: a/any difference, an excuse, a fuss, a mess, somebody’s day, the
most of it, up your mind (make a fuss=to exaggerate, go to lots of effort)
take: your breath away, charge, control
tell: a joke, a lie, the difference, the truth

Read actively through these collocations so that you can spot them
in Use of English exercises and Reading and Listening
Comprehensions.

Reading Comprehension
Turn to Book pg 40 to complete Part 5 RC. Do Exs 1-4 (Ex 4 will help
you with vocab).
Do Part 6 RC in Workbook pg 24: Exs 1-3.

Writing
This week we turn to Essays. To do so, we need to warm up our
advanced vocabulary, essay structure and style skills.
In the images below, Ex 1 is the Intro of the essay, Ex 2=Paragraph 2,
Ex 3=P3, and Ex 4=the conclusion.
Do Exs 1-4.
Remember every expression we choose to use has a function/a job (we
have specific words for contrasting, others for adding information etc).
Hence when we construct our essay, we need to select the right word;
right according to vocabulary, style and function.
