NURSING CAREERS 1

Abstract

Careers for registered nurses is expected to grow 12.4 percent by 2028. The field of nursing is

growing along with the demand for nurses needed to fulfill these needs. To put in perspective,

the 12.4 percent growth rate of nursing jobs in Minnesota is equal to 4,320 new job openings

throughout the state. This need for nurses will be met because of the different pathways one can

take to become a registered nurse. There is a two-year option where one can get an associate's

degree and start working, but depending on where one plans to work, one might have to go back

to school for another two years to get their bachelor’s degree. The other option is a four-year

option where one gets a bachelor’s degree right away. All in all, no matter what path is chosen,

the result will be the same, a registered nurse who can work at hospitals, nursing homes, doctor

offices, or outpatient clinics. Additionally, nurses are able to work in many different places and

specialties which is why the demand is high. Therefore, as a nurse, one never has to worry about

finding a job.
