I'm in year 8 at Osnovna skola Kulin ban
in Sarajevo, the capital city of Bosnia
and Herzegovina. It's a great school! The
building is old, but inside there's lots
of new technology in the classrooms.
There is a computer room with over
twenty computers. There are also some
new science laboratories and a library,
. but there is no canteen .
My favourite subjects are Music and Art,
and there's a fant astic new arts block
for these subjects. In the music room,
there's some new recording equipment.
Every term we play some of the music
we learn in a concert and record it.
It's great fun!
Are there any t hings I don't like about

My home town is smaller than

) about 11 0 km from Sarajevo. We also
have an international festival. Every
year in summer, Gorazde is the home of an
International Friendsh-ip Festival. This is an arts festival with
music, theatre, film, literature, fantastic dancing and a lot
more. It attracts about 150,000 visitors from more than
20 countries and it is an important event for the town.
The town is on the banks of the River Drina. It's quite a wide
river and its valley has provided a link between the town
and the coast for centuries. It was particularly important in
Roman times, when it was a main route inland. At Gorazde
this formed a 'cross roads' with a route through the Jabuka
Mountain pass towards Pljevlja and so the town developed
as a centre for trade. Today it's not a very big town and it's
not as important as it was, but the festival means we still
have links to the wider world.
