Extensive energy simulation exercises were undertaken to orient the building in such a way that minimizes the heat ingress while allowing natural daylight to penetrate abundantly. The building incorporates several world-class energy and environment friendly features, including solar PY systems, indoor air quality ‘monitoring, a high efficiency HVAC system, a passive cooling system using wind towers, high performance glass, aesthetic root gardens, rain water harvesting, root zone trealitint system, ete. The extensive landscape is alse home to 600-varieties of trees, most of which are native and adaptive to local elimatic conditions. The green building boasts 3 $0% saving in overall energy consumption, 35 % reduction in potable water consumption and usage of 80% of recycled / reeyelatile material. It offers the Advisory serviees to the industry in the areas of Green Building, Energy Efficiency, Water Management, Environmental Management, Renewable energy, Green Business incubation and Climate Change Activities. The rate of heat transfer mainly depends on surface area with which, the air comes in contact, Here the surface area is increased 2B by having vertical conduits, which gives less resistance to air flow, Further, the effectiveness is increased by having sprinklers to promote the evaporative cooling eS Re ee The hot ambient air enters the tower through the openings in the tower and is cooled, when it comes in contact with the coo! tower and thus becomes heavier and sinks down, When an inlet is provided to the rooms with an outlet on the other side, there is ‘draft of ool air. After a whole of heat exchange, the wind towers become warm in the evening, During night the reverse happens: due to warm surface of wind tower and drop in temperature of ambient air due to buoyancy effect, warm air rises upwards, As a result, cooler ambient air is sucked into the room through the window. As a bye= prodhict of this provess, wind tower loses the heat that was collected during the day’ time and it becomes ready for use in cold condition up to the moming. Roof Garden {| Heat absorbed ll WUT Absorbing heat andl radiating it into the building.
