INDONESIAN MARINE POTENTIAL

Irene Theofi ne – 212210032

Indonesia is an archipelagic country that has a lot of marine potentials. One of Indonesia's
marine potentials is fishery products. With a coastline of 95,181 km, Indonesia can produce 5.4
million tons of fish in one year. The main export commodities are shrimp, tuna, grouper,
snapper, mackerel, tilapia, cephalopods (squid, octopus, cuttlefish), crab meat, crab, seaweed, sea
cucumber, and lobster.
Another potential of the sea is tourism. Mangrove forests can be a promising marine
tourism potential for tourists. Not only entering because of tourists, but the community can also
create mangrove wood to be used as paper-making materials. The underwater beauty of
Indonesia is also the next marine tourism destination. Call it Raja Ampat in Papua, Derawan in
Kalimantan, and Ora Island in Maluku, the underwater scenery has been heard by foreign
countries. As a country that is rich in mangrove forests and has the largest coral reef area in the
world, Indonesian marine tourism never disappoints its tourists.
In addition to marine tourism, Indonesia also has a series of beaches that have great
tourism potential. Almost all beaches in Indonesia have views that are no less enchanting with
underwater scenery. The tourists can prove it by visiting the south Java beaches, Labuan Bajo
beach in NTT, and others. What's more, the view of the sunset on various beaches in Indonesia
always manages to fascinate many people. In short, Indonesia deserves to be dubbed as an
archipelagic country and a maritime country because Indonesia has endless maritime potential.
