MANAGEMENT PROCEDURE
Alcatel OmniPCX Enterprise
OBJECTIVE
- To learn how to manage the CLIP functionality on the NDDI2 boards
REFERENCE
- System Documentation CD-ROM R6.0 Custom System Documentation/Technical
Documentation/Public Networks/CLIP on Analog Trunk Group
OVERVIEW
The CLIP (Calling Line Identifier Protocol) service allows caller number to be sent on a public network
analog line. This service is not provided by all public networks and requires a special subscription.
CLIP information is coded in frequency modulation and transmitted on the analog line using the ETSI
or Bellcore protocol.
The Alcatel OmniPCX Enterprise can process this signal provided that the analog trunk group is
supported by an NDDI2 board in a crystal Media Gateway. Caller ID can then be presented on
sets with a display.
For the CLIP information received on the NDDI bundle to be taken into account by the Alcatel
OmniPCX Enterprise, the trunks must be supported by a LS/GS (NDDI2) board equipped with two
CLIPIA daughter-bards. Each CLIPIA daughter-board is dedicated to four trunks. It ensures the line
impedance adaptation necessary to receive the signal.
PROCEDURE:
2. Board management
The type of signal received from the public network is specified in NDDI2 board management
parameters. This is the only type of board that can process the CLIP signal on an NDDI trunk
group
mgr
Path Shelf / Board / create
Parameters Shelf Address: Enter the number of the shelf in which the board is located.
Board Address: Enter board position in the shelf.
Interface Type: Select NDDI2.
CLIP Signalization:
Select the type of CLIP signaling to be used:
No CLIP: No CLIP signal is expected
Short Ringing Burst Alert: CLIP data is expected after a short ringing pulse.
Long Ringing: CLIP data is expected after first ringing (to be used in the
USA).
Dial Tone Alert: CLIP data is expected after an alert tone.
Polarity Reversal/Dial Tone Alert: CLIP data is expected after battery inversion
followed by an alert tone.
Remark Warning: When the CLIP Signalization parameter of a given board is first
modified, the CPU must be reset (shutdown).
Note: When the CLIP Signalization parameter is subsequently modified,
only the board needs to be reset.
3. Timers management
The timers governing CLIP data transfer can be managed in the CLIP Timers object. Times
are expressed in units of 10 ms. The Min Duration Call Signal and Min Duration Tone
timers must always be set at a value other than 0. For the other timers, a null value means that
the timer is not used. The values given below are the default values. These values are given as
examples
