How to reset the SRS light

Here's a guide on resetting the SRS light

Ok, why bother to reset the light if it's on?
If the light is on it’s a MOT failure. It may also cause your SRS system to
malfunction should you get involved in a traffic incident .

Tools Required: A piece of electrical wire and about 15 minutes of

time.

Preparation: Locate the SRS connector. It is located in the fuse box

behind the driver's flappy storage area. You can simply wiggle the flappy
storage bit out without difficulty. And look at the right hand corner of the
fuse box and you will see the bright yellow wire and the SRS connector.
It's plugged into a dummy socket in the bottom right corner of the fuse
box.

Step1: Press the tab and unplug the SRS connector.

Step 2: Now the wire needs to be connected to the SRS connector.

Step 3: Now with the wire connected, turn the ignition on (||) but do not
start the car. The SRS indicator light should come on and go out in
about 8 seconds. Now quickly disconnect the wire. When you
disconnect the wire the SRS light should come back on again. Now!
Quickly reconnect the wire and the SRS light will go out

Now disconnect the wire and leave it disconnected.

If you done it properly the SRS light will flash twice indicating the SRS
indicator light has been reset.

Step 4: Wait for around a minute and then turn the ignition on and start
the car as usual and the SRS light should come on and go out like it
should do.
And that’s it, job done! If the light does not stay off, try the procedure
again. It sometimes takes a few attempts to get it right.

If however it still stays on, then you have a fault with the SRS system
and it will need to be checked at a garage.

Important info:

1. If you have removed the standard sterring wheel and replaced it

with an aftermarket one with no airbag, the SRS light will be on.
You will need to obtain a 2ohm resistor and fit it to the plug that
you unplugged your airbag from (at the steering wheel). This will
fool the SRS system into thinking an airbag is still in place, so it will
complete its test at start up and the light will go off.
2. Air bags are highly dangerous. Please work carefully around them!

done whilst working with the SRS system.
