Sentence Variety Exercise 

A. Rewrite and combine these sentences to make them more interesting and effective.
You may add words and related ideas. 

1. I would like to visit Canada. I could never afford to go there.


>> Even though I will never be financially able to visit Canda, it will always be on my travel
bucket list.

2. Petrol is becoming scarce and expensive. They decide to develop electric cars.
>> The decision of start developing electric cars is based from the issue of costly and shockingly
increasing petrol prices.

3. They grew up in a modern 22-story apartment building. They want to live in a traditional
house. 
>> They always want to live in traditional house even though they grew up in a fancy 22-story
building.

4. Some people listen to music when they feel sad. Some people listen to music when they
are in a good mood.

good mood.

5. My teacher always encourages me to write in English more and more. This makes me
feel more comfortable and have confidence to write more.

6. In Myanmar, university students do not have to go to class. Teachers do not notice


whether or not students come.

7. The company has several associated problems. Some of them are cultural and financial.
It also deals with technology.

economical and related with technology also.

8. These journal articles are not useful for this topic. The textbook is not relevant to the
assignment as well.
>> Both of the journal articles and textbook are not quite useful for our assignment’s topic.
9. Chinese medicine does not seem to focus on a patient’s health problem. It attempts to
make the whole body well again.
>> Chinese medicine is not focus only on one health problem, it’s also more like endeavor to
make the whole body well again.

10. This college provides excellent teaching coupled with first-class research. They have
made this a successful college.
>> This college’s teaching method which is mixed with their top researches made themselves
the top college in district.

B.  Rewrite the following sentences by putting the key word first.
1. As far as religion is concerned, it plays a fundamental role.
>> Religion plays a critical function in society.

2. With regard to politics, the vast majority of politicians are men.


>> Men outnumber women by a wide margin when it comes to politics.

3. Concerning the side effects of the treatment only one serious effect is currently known
