Bunny Care Sheet

Grooming
♥ Video - how to cut bunny nails to prevent
problems such as curling
(takes 5 min every 4-6 wks)
♥ Brushing - a fun bonding activity to prevent
intestinal fur blockages
♥ Website - Litter-box training
♥ Do not use wood shavings in the litter box
♥ Start small then increase the run area
♥ Add one or more litterboxes. Add some hay to encourage him to get in.

Rabbit Proofing
♥ Website –- Use cord protectors; use zip ties to pull cords along wall
♥ Place cords behind drawers and use shoe boxes or books to fill space underneath
♥ Place timothy hay mats over bunny “hot spots” to protect carpet. Place extra litter
boxes to prevent accidents

Toys
♥ Rabbits love to knock, nudge, jump and hide!
♥ Play time gives rabbits exercise and keeps
them from chewing furniture
Website Items for chewing: phonebook,
crumpled paper bag, cardboard boxes, pine cones
Items for playing: roll toys like balls or dull tins,
baby toys hung on cage or placed on the ground

Dangers
♥ Website - GI stasis: Small, dry, misshapen, or stringy droppings
o Take to vet immediately if they stop eating
♥ Use care when handling your bunny. Rabbits have powerful legs so if they kick too
hard while being held they can break their back
