There is no cure for diabetic retinopathy. But treatment works very well to
prevent, delay, or reduce vision loss. The sooner the condition is found, the
easier it is to treat. And it's more likely that vision will be saved.

how long does it take diabetic retinopathy to develop?


Typically, diabetic patients will develop diabetic retinopathy after they
have had diabetes for between 3-5 years. In the early stages, diabetic retinopathy
will not affect the sight, but if it is not treated and progresses, eventually the
sight will be affected.
