It includes also two automatic air flow regulators and rotate-reading air flow indicators. 2 Description LH end RH engines air bleed pipes are cross-connected by a pipe running under the wing center section-to-fuselage fil art. Arranged in the RH engine nacelle, in the wing center section HE and center portions is a flight ‘compartment additional heating system pipe. ‘The pipes are made welded. The pipes within the segments from the engines air bleed flanges up to the air-to-air heat exchangers and In the hot air line up to the mixer valve, and the flight compartment additional heating pipes are made of stainless steel, the remaining pipes are made of aluminium alloy. ‘The pipe is fastened in the wing center section leading edge portion by means of clamps and brackets secured at the ribs. The pipes fastener (Ref. Pig. 1) allow axial displacement of the pipes during their heating or Cooling Spherical joints (Ref. Fig. 2) used for Connection of the pipes to each other mad the units provide tightness and compensation for mounting angular misalignment of the pipes amounting up to 3°. Flanges (6, 6) of the joints are provided with split inserts allowing Installation of the flanges onto the pipes after Welding spherical (7) and tapered (1) end pieces. Fig. 1): Air flow sensor (Venturi tube) (1) Control unit (12) Actuator (cutoff valve)(9) The air flow sensor (Venturi tube) serves for feeding pneumatic signals into the control unit and the air flow indicator, The air flow sensors are located in the pipes at the wing center section LH and RH portions, The control unit serves for feeding electrical signals into the actuator when the delivered air pressure is below or above rated level. The control units are located in the wing center section-to-fuselage forward filet at the LH and RH sides. The actuator (cutoff valve) controls the air flow by changing its passage area. The cutoff valve is installed in the engine nacelle, to the left from the engine, under the cowling, The Venturi tube (of both the LH and RH air flow regulators) is connected through pipes with the air flow indicator and the control unit. The pitot "1" connection of the Venturi tube is connected to the pitot "2" connection of the air flow indicator and connection "I of the control unit. The static "C" connection of the Venturi tube is connected to the static "C" connection of the air flow indicator and connection "It" of the control unit. The pipes are provided with color code marking at their ends. Operation of the electrical system is covered in Section 021.1000. 021.11.00 Page 1 May 10/04 MAINTENANCE MANUAL Installation Diagram of Mass Air Plow Control System Figure 1 AN MAINTENANCE MANUAL CUTOFF VALVE 54-7603-1100 ~ BESCRIPIIOH AND OPERATION ‘The cutoff valve consists of body (1, Fig. 1) and cover (7) connected to each other by a flanged joint The body and the cover are provided with tapered ends for engagement with the pipe spherical connections. Press-ftted into the body is bushing (2) whose guide groove guides chromium plated slide valve (6), The slide valve is operated by flap (2) to which it is secured by locking washer (5) to prevent it from dropping out. The slide valve can float € the flap opening, this feature ensuring its snug retainment against the lapped surface of the bushing by the air pressure, disregarding possible misalignments of the flap. ‘The flap is fitted onto the splined end of axle (26). Carrier (18) interconnected with carrier (13) by means of 8 Tod fitted at the other splined end of the axle. Carrier (13) is rigidly connected with the shaft of electric actuator (10) With the electric actuator shaft rotating the slide valve slides on the bushing flat. Being fully closed it is retained against the bushing flat by the air pressure to ensure the valve tightness, At the limit (fully open or fully closed) positions of the flap the electric actuator is de-energized by built-in limit switches, The electric actuator consists of a bipolar reversible series-wound DC motor, type Q-2M, a step-down ‘sb-stage reduction gear, limit switches and a potentiometer. The cutoff valve operates in the following way. Rotational motion of the electric motor is transmitted through the reduction gear to the output shaff of the actuator whose angular range of rotation is limited by the limit ‘switches breaking the electric motor power supply circu. Rod 4, Evacuated Capsule 5. Cartier 6. Rod 7. axle 8. Sector 9. Pointer 10. Hairspring Air Flowmeter, Schematic Figure 1 2. Operation The Venturi tube is a converging segment of the pipe so shaped as the pressure differential between its wide and choke portions is optimal. The pressure differential measured by differential capsule (2) of the air flow indicator varies with the air flow through the Venturi tube. The choke pressure is measured by ‘evacuated capsule (4). Depending on variation of the pressure differential between the wide and choke Portions of the Venturi tube the differential capsule sag varies as well. Displacement of movable pivot is Converted by means of rod (3) into rotational motion of the axle, and by means of bent carrier (6), evacuated capsule (4) and rod (6) into rotational motion of axle (7) 021.12.00 Page 1 May 10/04 oun MAINTENANCE MANUAL With the choke pressure varying the evacuated capsule sag varies and, consequently, so does arm "a" of bent carrier (5). Thus, axle (7) rotation angle depends on two values: the pressure differential between the Venturi tube wide and choke portions, and the choke pressure. Fitted at axle (7) is sector (8) meshing with a pinion onto which a pointer indicating the air flow in weight units is press-fited. Hairspring (10) serves for taking up plays in the indicator mechanism. ‘The indicator scale is graduated from 0 to 10 in conditional unite, Within the operational range of air flows the relationship between the air flow and the YPBK-18 air flow indicator readings is approximately linear, the preset air flow (720 kg/h) corresponding to 3.5 to 4.5 units. 0214.12.00 Page 2 May 10/04 ibid eet MAINTENANCE MANUAL AIR DISTRIBUTION ~ DESCRIP1 ND OPERATION 1. General Air is supplied into the cargo compartment through distributor valves: at cooling into upper air ducts (14) (Refer to 021.00,00, Fig. 1) and at heating into lower air ducts (15). From the upper air ducts air is delivered immediately into the compartment through holes (ventilation by convection) ‘At heating, warm air is delivered from the lower air ducts into panels and through slits provided in the ceiling emerges into the compartment (panel heating). ‘An automatic air ducts selection system ensures selection of air supply into the upper and lower ducts. Ventilation by convection is used for the fight compartment both at cooling and heating. Air for the fight compartment is tapped upstream of the distributor valves and emerges into the cabin through pilots’ legs blowing air valves and windscreen air slit spouts 2. Description ‘Two pipes entering the fuselage between frames Nos. 15 and 16 are connected to each distributor valve (33). One of the pipes is connected to the upper air duct, the other made in the form of a flat riser descends to the lower air duct. ‘The lower air ducts (Ref. Fig. 1) consist of two walls, inner and outer, stamped of aluminium sheet. ‘They form a slit in the upper portion of the duct through which air enters the panels. Each section of the panel is made up by two adjacent frames and the fuselage skin lined with heat insulation, and inner decorative wall covering of the compartment. From the panels air emerges into the over-the-celling space and therefrom, through ceiling slits into the compartment. ‘Two pipes are routed into the flight compartment along the fuselage LH and RH sides The LK side pipe splits upstream of frame No. 7 into the pipes supplying air to: 021.20.00 Page 1 May 10/04 MAINTENANCE MANUAL 021.20.00 Page 2 May 10/04 MAINTENANCE MANUAL The pilot's and navigator’s legs blowing air nozzles The navigator’ blister. The flight compartment canopy LH window panes. The RH pipe bifurcates upstream of frame No. 7 into pipes supplying air to the copilot's legs blowing air ‘nozzle and to the fight compartment canopy RH window panes. Manually-operated valves are installed in the pipes supplying air to the canopy window panes, ‘The flat pipes and elbows are welded of stamped aluminium sheet, the round pipes are made of drawn aluminium tubes. Selection of air supply between the upper and lower air ducts is effected automatically depending on the ‘supplied air temperature by the signal of limit switches installed in the mixer valves electric actuators In the cooling mode air is distributed through the upper air duets over the cargo compartment and emerges from the compartment into the underfloor space. In the heating mode air is distributed through the lower air duets over the compartment length and supplied from the lower air ducts into the panels where it heat” the lining, rises upward and emerges into the compartment through the ceiling slits Panel heating improves considerably comfort in the compartment since it establishes uniformity of heat distribution over the compartment. With the compartment pressurized air emerges through gaps and leaky areas in the floor into the underfloor space where three pressure-control outlet valves are installed which communicate the compartment with the atmosphere. Justin the fight compartment air is distributed through the variable legs blowing air nozzles and the window Panes slotted nozzles. The air flow can be redistributed as desired by means of manually-operated valves (Refer to 021.00.00. Fig. 1). In case of severe freczing of the canopy window panes the whole Not air flow ‘supplied into the fight compartment can be used for blowing the window panels. 21.20.00 Page 3/4 May 10/04 ae MAINTENANCE MANUAL AIR DISTRIBUTION — MAINTENANCE PRACTICES List of Task Cards Task Card No Removalinstallation Removalinstallation of valve 24-7604-600 401 Removalinstallation of valve 24-7602-300 402 021,20.00 Page 201/202 May 10/04 MAINTENANCE MANUAL (9) qouy pue (2) urd hayes yeysur-oy (Z) dejo fq adid ayy uaysey (py) syjoq ut maxog ‘Sadid au vaaMyag anjen aly UORISog (6) aver anowans len aig aseaI01 pue (¢) odid Buyoeye (2) dweyD uas007 (p)syoq masosun, (6) 2did Buuoroo Buuy ay anowoy (Lor 614 40u) (2) uid Mayes pue (9) qouy snowy jou Ag HOBO) SNOLLOW SALLOZNNOO. The absolute pressure is maintained constant up to an altitude at which the cabin pressure differentia attains 0.298 katlem? + 0.02 koficm? (79 2? kPa + 1.96 kPa) (cegment Il). With the altitude of flght rising further on the above pressure differential is maintained constant up to the moment when the cabin altitude becomes equal to 2400 m which corresponds to an absolute pressure of 567 mm Hg (75.6 kPa), In this case the altitude of fight will be about 6000 m (segment IV). In further climb the cabin Pressure differential wil rise up to 0.4 kgf/cm? The absolute pressure control of the regulator produces @ pneumatic signal equal to the selected pressure and sends it through pipes to the outlet valves 2176f) The outlet valves ore the actuators of the system and, depending on the signal received and the cabin pressure, the valve diaphragm rises together with the seat to ‘open the cabin-to-atmosphere air outlet, The absolute pressure control of pressure regulator 2077 operates the outlet valves up to the moment when the cabin pressure differential settles at a level of 0.298 kgficm® + 0.02 kgficm® (29.22 kPa + 1.96 kPa). Afier attainment of this pressure differential selector 6198 which Is also connected to the pipe operating outlet valves 2176 starts operating (Refer to segment Il Fig. 3). [At this segment the cabin absolute pressure drops to 567 mm Hg (75.6 kPa) which corresponds to a cabin altitude of 2400 m. With the altitude of fight rising further the outlet valves are controlled by the absolute pressure regulator 1314N1, The command signal produced by absolute pressure regulator 1314 is fed through the pipe to outlet valves 21760, The cabin pressure differential is maintained at 0.4 kaf/om? (40 kPa) by the pressure differential control of pressure regulator 2077, which is also connected to outlet valves 217601 The cabin pressure differential rate-of-change is controlled by a rate-of-change control incorporated in Pressure regulator 2077. The desired cabin pressure differential rate-of-change is set by a knob provided at the regulator face panel. For production of precise command signals pressure regulator 2077, pressure differential selector 6198 and absolute pressure regulator 13147 are communicated with the atmosphere through the ATMOS (ATMOC@EPA), STATIC (CTATHKA), C;, Ca, Az and As pipes while the control chambers are communicated with the cabin through a calibrated orifice in pressure regulator 2077. Schematic Figure 4 21.30.00 Page? May 19/04 ane MAINTENANCE MANUAL ‘At emergency descent the cabin pressure may drop below the ambient pressure. In this case the seat of outlet valve 2176A rises a bit to let the outside air into the cabin and prevent occurrence of a negative cabin pressure differential Limitation of the maximum positive pressure differential (in ease of failure of pressure regulator 2077 pressure differential control) is effected by a pressure differential limiter of outlet valve 2176) which actuates upon attainment of the maximum allowed pressure differential Emergency depressurization of the pressurized compartments is effected manually. With selector switch 855 (Ref, Fig. 5) set to EMERG DEPRESS (ABAP. PASTEPM) solenoid-operated valves 856, 8058, 827 actuate. Upon its actuation solenoid-operated valve 772 (Ref. Fig. 4) communicates the over-the-diaphragm chamber of outlet valve 2176/| with the atmosphere and airs relieved from the pressurized cabin. Depressurization can also be effected by resetting the PRESSURE DIFF (M3BbITOUHOE AABIEHME) knob of pressure regulator 2077 from 0.4 kgf/cm? (40 kPa) to 0. In this case the pressure differential ‘command signal produced by pressure regulator 2077 draps down to zero and outlet valve 2176{] opens to relieve the cabin pressure. To preclude occurrence of undesirable differential between the cabin and landing aerodrome pressures (which may hinder the opening of the doors, hatches and direct vision windows) the pressure regulator is. provided with the PRESSURIZATION ONSET (HAYAMIO TEPMETM3ALMM) knob by means of which the pressurization onset pressure for takeoff and the landing aerodrome pressure for landing are set on the regulator dial ‘The type installation of outlet valve 21761] and solenoid-operated valve 772 is shown in Figure 6 021.30.00 Page 8 May 10/04 ASS MAINTENANCE MANUAL 7 2 |e ambartment CB panel LH bas} 8566 7 ‘emergency, De peal a] al. ass of cargo compartment door | eeeas 9 L A +27 Y06 tor combat) — 5 ‘pening of cargo a ai |Solenotd - operated | | Solenold - operated |Solenotd - operated ‘Pneumatic valve ‘Paeumatic valve ‘Pneumatic valve 772 772 772 656 8055 827 Emergency Depressurization System.
