Intake air, lubriceting cil, and each cooling water channel, and the timing gear case are incorporat- ed inthe engine frame. The timing gear case is mounted on the engine frame front side, and the turbocharger, air cooler, lubricating oil cooler, cool ing water pump and lubricating oil pump are installed in the frame. A frame safely valve is provided on the frame side cover. 2-1.2. Crankshaft and bearing The crankshaft is an iniegral forged part. A fly- whee! is mounted at the rear (output sde) of the crankshaft, and a crank gear for driving the camshafi and an auxiliary pump driving gear are mounted atthe front. The camshaft is a unit Composed of two parts The cam gear for driving the camshaft is installed on the front side of the engine, and the cam gear is driven from the crank gear via the idie gear. Exhaust pe 2-1.4 Piston and Connecting Rod The piston is an integral forged part made of duefile cast iron. tts top ring groove is induction- hardened. The piston is cooled with lubricating oil that is fed from the connecting rod through the pis- ton pin. The connecting rod is fromtumed forged prod- uct with the farge end, which is horizontally spit into three parts, to allow overhaul of the piston without disassembling the bearing unit 24.5 Cylinder Heater The oylinder head is of a highly rigid structure made of special cast iron, and is hydraulically secured to the piston with 4 botts. For more details, refer to the piping system: iping systems of standard specifica- \cluded in the final documents. 2-21 Starting Pneumatic System The engine is started by an air motor operating with compressed air. To start the engine remotely or automatically, press the start button on the engine conirol panel or the operation panel (monitor pane), and the solenoid valve of the starter relay valve provided with a pressure control function (with an integral reducing valve) will be actuated, and low-pres- sure air will push out the pinion gear of the air moter. ‘When the pinion gear engages with the wheel gear on the fywheel, the air motor main air circuit will open. Normally, fresh water is used as cooling water. A. Jacket Line The Jacket line can be fed uncer pressure to cooling water pump from the part of lubri- cating oil cooler outlet by the cooling water pump. The water enters the engine cylinder Jacket through the alr cooler and returns to the fresh water cooler through the tempera- lure control valve case ai the ceoling water outlet of the engine after cocling the parts in the jacket.
