Unusual animals
No-one knows how many kinds of animals there are in the world. Some people say there are over one million
and other people say eight million! There are lots of unusual animals. Here are some very unusual ones …
A Blobfish
Blobfish live in the sea near Australia. In the sea, they look like normal fish, but they look different out of the
water. They look like old men with sad faces!
B Glass frog
These frogs usually live in trees near the lakes and rivers of South America. They look like normal frogs, but you
can see inside them! You can see their hearts and their stomachs!
C Jerboa
The jerboa lives in deserts around the world. It lives in very hot places, but it doesn’t drink water. The jerboa
looks like a small kangaroo, but it isn’t one. It has long back legs and a long tail. It can jump well and it can run
very fast.
D Three-toed sloth
This animal lives in the rainforests of South America. It is famous because it’s very slow. It has long fingers and
it uses them to climb trees. Sloths can also swim very well.
