A COURT

A court is an institution that is set up by the government to settle dispute through a legal process.
Disputes come to court when people can’t agree about what happened. Court decided what really
happened and what should be done about it. Court played an important role for a number of
reason. They decide whether a person committed a crime and what the punishment should be.
When a court or jury determines that an individual committed a crime, that person may be fined,
sent to prison, or put on problems before a criminal trial takes place, the person accused in
charged by an indictment or information which is formal accusation that the person has offences
a crime.

A civil case involves a claim by one party that another party failed to carry out a legal duty.
Lawyers use the term party or litigant to describe a participant in a civil case.

The people in the courtroom are:

1. The Judge, who has tasks, among other thing that:


a. Before the Jury begins its deliberations, about the tasks in the case, the Judge must
give instructions to the Jury about the law that applies to the case.
b. In the bench trials, the Judge must also determine the facts
2. The Jury, a group of citizens who heart the evidence at trial and determine the facts.
3. The Lawyer, for each party has tasks to bring out those facts that puts his/her client’s case
in the most
4. The parties, may or may not be present at the counsel tables with their lawyers
a. Defendants in a criminal cases have a constitutional right to be present at their trials.
b. Parties in civil case may be present. If they wish
5. The witnesses, give testimony about the facts
6. The courtroom clerk, is appointed by all of the Judges, he/she is responsible for the
court’s administration.
