Circle Comparisons

Directions: Print out the six circles that are similar to the ones found in
the geometry cabinet. Invite your child to color them. Help your child
cut out the circles and use them to play a comparison game.

How to play:
1. Invite your child to lay all of the circles on a table or on the floor.

2. Ask your child to choose a large circle. Return the circle to its
place.

3. Ask your child to choose a small circle. Return the circle to its
place.

4. Select a circle that is in the middle of the gradation.

5. Ask your child to hand you a circle that is larger than the one you
have. If your child chooses the largest circle, repeat the request to
encourage the child to see that there is more than one circle that
is larger.

6. Ask your child to hand you a circle that is smaller than the one
you have. If your child chooses the smallest circle, repeat the
request to encourage the child to see that there is more than one
circle that is smaller.

7. Choose a different circle and ask these questions again.

8. Continue playing the game to help your child explore larger and
smaller.

9. As you end the game, ask your child to give you the largest circle.
Then, ask your child to give you the smallest circle.
