Beginners

For this Unit 5 written assignment, I will be writing an online dating profile for the story titled

"Beginners" written by Raymond Carver. The story is about two couples, their love life, and how

they interpret various other love lives and ways of giving love to someone else. (Carver, 2007)

The character I have chosen for my Online dating profile is Herb McGinnis.

Age: 45

Physical Description and Characteristics: Hello I am a 45-year-old male Caucasian individual. I

am a divorcee with 2 children. I work as a Cardiologist in a local hospital where I specialize in

heart surgery and recovery. I like long talks about the power of love and literature.

Likes: Chatting, Gin with Lime, Late afternoon Drinks, Children, Knights and Vassals,

Seminary, Cardiology, Spiritual love, Literature

Dislikes: Dangerous people, Violent and toxic relationships, people who won't let me finish

talking, Cunning and spiteful women

What I am Looking for in a Date: I am looking for someone who is younger than me but

interested in spiritual and long-lasting love. I would like to have someone who is on the same

page with me in terms of communication. Additionally, I would like a date with someone with

who I can share moments where I can confidently talk about various thoughts without verbal

fights and have a healing comfort in their presence.
