PURPOSES

Subject Description:
The Development of communication skills in English for academic and professional purposes. It is one of the
contextualized subjects of the Senior High School that focuses mainly on critical reading, reasoning, writing, and
research Skills. This subject provides language instruction for academic study. Language skills addressed
include; Listening comprehension, fluency development, oral intelligibility, reading, grammar, writing and
vocabulary development. It is a two-semester program for native and non-native English speakers that gives
students time to focus on English writing, critical reading, and research skills. This program helps students
develop communication skills that will prepare them for social and academic interactions. This subject also aims
to equip the students with advanced reading and writing skills that are needed in the academe and also in the
