experienced virtual airline pilot who fancied something a little more blue and yellow, then
welcome to our community. Introduce yourself in Discord, take full advantage of our
resources and documentation, and take part in our wide variety of events, challenges and
tours.

We hope you enjoy your journey with vRYR!

Message from the Operations Manager, George Peppard:

vRYR is Europe’s biggest virtual airline. We’ve been around since 2014, and there are now over
24,000 of you flying over 6,000 flights per month. Despite our large membership, we are a
close community, and many of our members meet good friends in the VA. We pride ourselves
on our innovative and high-quality documents, liveries, resources, and routes which are
available to every pilot from day one.

We aren’t stopping here though – we continue to offer innovative new resources and systems
to our pilots, as well as new events and focus airports on a regular basis, sometimes even
giving you the chance to win prizes from several vendors, including Orbx and SimMarket. The
entire staff team and membership would like to welcome you to vRYR, and we hope you enjoy
many virtual flights with us!

Message from First Officer Richard Shiels, RYR18889:

As a pilot for vRYR, I have found flying for them an absolute pleasure. The procedure from
picking one of many up to date and realistic routes, flying up to date aircraft in the real fleet
and finally filing my PIREP very straight forward and very rewarding. To know that I have
contributed to the many flying hours of vRYR is fantastic, an honour and takes my passion of
flight simulation to a whole new level.
vRYR is hosted on the unquestionably leading virtual airline management system, vAMSYS.
This is where pilots book flights, view PIREPs, view live flights, book event slots and
download resources.

When logged into vAMSYS, following these simple steps:

• To book a flight, head to the ‘Flight Centre’ tab.

• Excited to take part in your first event? Head to the ‘Events’ tab.
• Ready to begin learning? Take a look through the ‘Resources’ and ‘Documents’ tabs.
• Made an error when registering, or simply want to change your settings? Click your
name at the top right of the dashboard, and follow the ‘My Profile’ or ‘My Settings’
pages. This is where you’ll also sign out, or select another virtual airline.

Events

We regularly host a variety of events, created by our Events Manager, James Williams. Some
examples of vRYR events include our Focus Weeks, Overloads, Group Flights – as well as
tours. Our prestigious ‘Delivery Flight’ events also make an appearance when our real-world
carrier takes arrival of new aircraft. Our events vary in difficulty and we move our events
around the calendar so as many pilots can participate. We also coordinate with online
networks such as VATSIM and IVAO to provide pilots with ATC coverage – but flying online
isn’t mandatory.

Resources

Our resources take your experience to a more immersive level. Thanks to the incredible work
from Daniel and Ollie, our Fleet Managers, pilots can download and fly the most realistic and
up-to-date liveries available; ranging our entire fleet, from Ryanair UK to Buzz. In order to
download these liveries, you’ll need either a vAMSYS Community or a Discord account.
Liveries are painted for both P3D and X-Plane platforms. Not only do we offer liveries, we also
provide some of the best study-level pilot documentation – which, when used effectively, can
add some incredible realism to your operations. These documents include checklists for all
vRYR aircraft types, scenery tables, SOPs and much more. These are all hosted on the
vAMSYS Community Forums.

Pegasus Flight Tracker

vAMSYS captures your flight log data through Pegasus (ACARS) which you’ll need to install
and start before commencing every vRYR flight. Once you’ve finished your flight and you’re at
the gate, submitting the PIREP will send vAMSYS your flight log and will be accepted/rejected.
Head to https://vamsys.io/resources/pegasus for more information and installation guidance.
To get started you'll need to download the software we use to track your flights. We use a
bespoke tracking software solution called Pegasus, developed by Team vAMSYS for use with
all virtual airlines on vAMSYS. It is a universal tracker for all vAMSYS airlines, meaning should
you fly with another vAMSYS virtual airline, you won't have to install additional software! To
download Pegasus, visit https://vamsys.io/resources/pegasus - the download button is at the
bottom of the page, on the righthand side. Once you have installed it, you will need to login
using your email address (not your pilot ID) and vAMSYS password.

Once you have installed Pegasus, you will need to download and install either FSUIPC or
XPUIPC depending on the simulator you use. If you use FSX or P3D, you need FSUIPC. You
can download this for free from http://www.fsuipc.com/. Download the appropriate version
for your simulator - FSUIPC 4 for FSX and P3Dv3, FSUIPC6 for P3Dv4 and P3Dv5. There is no
need to purchase a key and register the product for the purposes of flying with us.

If you use X-Plane, you need to download XPUIPC. You can download the latest version of
XPUIPC from http://fsacars.com/downloads/xpuipc/. To install, open the zip and open the
folder in there. You need to drag the folder called "XPUIPC" (the folder with no version number
in the folder name) to XPlane11/Resources/plugins. Once you have installed the software,
book a flight at https://vamsys.io/routes and open your simulator and load in with the
specified aircraft type at a gate at your departure airport. Open Pegasus, which you installed
earlier, and go to the "Booking" page on the left-hand side. If you have booked your flight
correctly, there should be a flight for you to click on. If not, make sure you book the flight and
then press the blue "Refresh" button at the top of the bookings page. Once the booking
appears, click the green "Start Flight" button at the bottom right, and if all is well, you will see a
page which displays the status of your simulator and aircraft, as well as a flight log.

Now, you can pushback, takeoff, descend, land, park up, etc. and all parts of your flight will be
logged - you don't need to do anything in Pegasus until you have parked up on stand and
turned the engines off. Click "End Flight" in Pegasus, then "File PIREP". If you encountered
anything abnormal during your flight that may raise cause for concern, such as excessive
overspeed or a diversion, you may wish to leave a comment. Please do not leave a comment
unless absolutely necessary to explain circumstances you may have encountered during your
flight - comments send your PIREP to manual review, which adds to our workload. Your log
will be sent to us and if all is well, it should appear at https://vamsys.io/pireps after one or two
minutes. If this doesn't happen, please reply to this ticket or alternatively seek help from
someone in our Discord server (https://discord.gg/RsJrnMB) for live support.

vRYR does not enforce an activity requirement. Some virtual airlines will require pilots to fly a
certain number of hours or file a number of PIREPs within a given time frame – we don’t. This
means our pilots can enjoy all our routes, at a date and time suitable to you.

When registering on vAMSYS, you were asked to select a base. We don’t operate by base as
pilots are welcome to fly any route within our network.

At the end of your flight and once you’ve submitted your PIREP, vAMSYS will automatically
approve or reject your flight using our pre-set rules. This is normally a completely automatic
process – however, if your PIREP doesn’t meet one of our requirements (divert/time
acceleration), then it will go to a manual review handled by the vRYR team.

As a new pilot, you’ll automatically attract the Cadet rank. To move up our ranks, you’ll need to
achieve specific hours and points which you will gain when flying. You can see the thresholds
and structure by visiting the ‘Documents’ tab on the vAMSYS dashboard.
